Random Thought Thread

a friend of mine from bike school lives in Tucson, and I stayed at his place for a week or so. He's a frame builder, and offered to put me up and build a frame for myself in his shop- it's still a great memory. The terrain and environment was really surreal to me, coming from the rainforest. Fascinating kind of place.

Tucson has always been a favorite destination of mine because of the terrain & its proximity to Mexico which has also been a favorite place of mine to visit.

Often thought of moving or buying a 2nd home there but I'm stuck where I am for the duration.🤷

Only negative about Tucson is that it can get brutally hot.

Was once riding a motorcycle east of Tucson & had to pull into a McD to cool off. A thermometer in the shade read 110 degrees. 🥵

If you got poop on your hand, you wouldn't just wipe it off with a napkin and call it good. At least, I hope you wouldn't.

Bidets should be mandatory in the work place.

Nobody wants to go back to doing their sucky job with a funky ass.

I've noticed a lot of McDonald's, the bathroom door opens inward. You have to touch it to open the door to get back out of the bathroom.

They have hand dryers, no towels

Even if the people who work there have perfect hygiene, if they're touching the door to get out of the bathroom, and then touching my food...

I untuck my shirt and use it to open the door if I forget to bring a napkin in with me

Really gross I don't like it and I don't understand why this is common at McDonald's

Hand dryers are gross.

Yep, a T-shirt handle is mandatory, I just do it out of habit, regardless 👍

I do this for for all public doors handles.
Being a germaphobe, I EDC one of those small bottles of hand sanitizer, and use it after touching any/every common contact things like door handles, gas pumps, and even checkout touchscreens.

I’ve also trained the habit of minimizing such contact, eg. for pull handles (vs knobs that need to be turned), I only use the pinky and ring finger to pull the handle. And use only the tip of my pinky for touchscreens or button pads (minimizes the amount of sanitizer I need to use).

One issue, is that some bugs (like noroviruses) aren’t killed by alcohol based sanitizers, hence also learning to minimize facial contact/touching, coupled with using the pinky and ring fingers for contact with common contact items (since I NEVER use those fingers to touch my face, no matter what).

I've got bidets on all of the toilets (4 of them) in my house & they're great for cleaning w/o smearing w/toilet paper but I would reluctant to use a public one unless the toilet is cleaned after every use, because fecal matter can splatter everywhere during use. 🤷

Fortunately, I seldon have to go #2 outside of my house. 😎
