What are people's experiences with oem vs aftermarket car batteries? Have talked to people who say oem should last longer, but for a long time we weren't keeping cars long enough to really find out. But now we have 2 cars that we've had for 10 years, and I'm seeing the opposite:

2013 Acura bought in 2015. Original battery was replaced in 2016 by the dealer. Had to replace it again in 2019 and did it myself, and went with DuraLast Platinum. Just replaced the battery again this past weekend with another DuraLast. So the 2 oem's only lasted 3 years each, while the aftermarket lasted almost 6 years.

2015 Buick bought used in 2015. Original battery replaced in 2018 (3 years), and the replacement DieHard is still going (almost 7 years).

Maybe a hot-take here.....I don't like McD's coffee......tastes burned to me. I know it's supposed to be awesome, but I can't get behind it...mm
That’s been the contention by connoisseurs (or snobs? 😜) for the longest time.

They deliberately kept their coffee at a higher temperature than any other chain, all mostly for financial reasons (one being that it reduced the number of free refills an in-restaurant diner could consume within XX timespan, as they needed to wait for it to cool enough to drink), although they ‘claimed’ that it was because people would buy coffee to go (and apparently, not begin drinking it immediately, like EVERY normal person), and complain that it was cold by the time they got to work/their destination.

Coffee aficionados contend that those temps result in… overcooking? And that burnt taste.

It also resulted in this lawsuit.

Would replace my truck battery regardless, every 3 years to prevent potential problems.

Die hard for the win.

Thanks, bud. Little miss arrived abruptly, 5 weeks early.

She gets to stay in the NICU for a while until her lungs get some more practice. Otherwise everyone involved is healthy and recovering nicely.

Mama is an absolute champ and is undoubtedly tougher than me. The things she had to put up with...🤯

Also, nurses are saints; I don't think there's any doubt of that.

Fyi, buckle up for some loosely controlled diatribes coming up about the health insurance industry in the near future. Billing will be illuminating.
Congrats!

Check the warranty on the batteries

If I didn't get a discount on oem ....I would go oem equivalent with the best warranty

From what I can tell, car batteries are now undersized to save weight and over taxed by all the electronics that stays awake when your car is off. Combine that with a hot climate and you are looking at replacing every 3-4 years.
Maybe for oem, but that's not what I'm seeing with aftermarket.
