Retired UPS Driver said:
All happened when I was driving my UPS truck.

All times I was wearing my safety glasses or safety sunglasses too.

All blew in from the side of my face, and hit me from BEHIND the glasses. Between my glasses and eye, freak accidents.

All blew in from outside of my truck through the open window or door.

3 were metal slivers and stuck into the eye. 1 was unknown, probably a small pebble grain that cut deep, but not imbedded.

I was luckily able to pull safely to the side of the road and able to call for help, even through the pain.

Goggles would have worked, but it just wasn't practical for my driving.

That’s some crazy bad luck, right there.

Not an issue anymore since you’re retired, but after the first or second time, I would’ve been looking at the wraparound type glasses that bicyclists wear. Very good peripheral visibility, AND side protection.

If you happen to run into Tanto wish him happy friday and avoid direct eye contact....or he will start barking and chase his imaginate tail for hours

Glad he got checked out. A slit lamp exam and fluorescein stain, in addition to looking for injuries can also pick out foreign bodies- paint flecks, dirt etc( the pain/irritation of trauma can mask the gritty sensation of particles in your eye- so you would not know if anything was stuck in your eye). I agree, he should follow up with an ophthalmologist (emergently if there is any change in vision).
