I had a 2002 V8 Eddie Bauer Explorer. It was a really comfortable vehicle but the 4WD sucked.

My dad had a '63 Galaxie 500 with a 390 he loved.

I also had a Eddie bower explorer. Super comfortable. 4 x4 also sucked. Rebuilt transmission twice.
Uffff. But it was comfy there is that. Kids loved the dvd in the back

The transmission in that series was less than good. Thankfully, Ford managed to make it worse in the next series (2006-2010). Ask me how I know.

Ha just my luck. I got the 2010 thinking, “ Well they should have sorted it out by now.” Apparently no.
Happy to have sold that gas guzzler.

I sold mine to my UPS guy who turned around and flipped it. (At least I told him how to replace the 4WD module).
