A real Radler is quite tasty.
In Northern Germany, their version is half beer/half Sprite and wonderful after a bike ride!
I also enjoy a Wisconsin lunchbox from time to time 🍻
Yup. When we got home after trying it the first time, we promptly tried making our own.

Parents were like, “You little alkies…” 🤨

My parents weren’t drinkers. My mom would never have more than a glass of wine. 2 in one day was her limit, and she could still drink my dad under the table 😮

He was one of those who was highly sensitive to alcohol. Talking a single gulp of a beer, and he would turn beet red within 10 minutes. A whole beer, and he would be tipsy/drunk.

I think we were 7, 8, and 9 (I was the youngest. My brother was 2 years older. Cousin right between us), when they assigned us to mix up the punch for a party at my cousin’s/uncle’s house.

Well, we decided to raid his liquor cabinet to ‘punch up’ the punch 😁

When it was ‘ready’, the three of us stood at the table with big grins, waiting to see the adult’s reactions when they tried it. Uncle took a sip, “You kids made this? Good job!”.

My dad took one sip. Choked, and said, “You kids made this? I’ll have a lemonade. You kids will, too. This punch is now adults only”. Sure enough, within about 10 minutes, his face was beet red. Mom goes, “What happened?”. Dad just said, “I took a sip of the punch the kids made. I think they’ve already tried their own concoction. They’re not allowed to have anymore”. 😅

Used the Seek Nano 300 thermal (awesome little device for ~$300. Genuine 320x240 sensor) to look at the roof with the sprinkler mod. (Ambient = 85f 69%RH)

The side of the roof the sprinkler doesn’t reach = 121f

After the 10 minutes with the sprinkler on, temps on the watered section of the roof = 91f

45 minutes after watering, the temps are still ~20f cooler on the section that was watered.

Might have to climb up and stick a 2nd sprinkler up there to cover the rest of the roof.
Have the day off 😁

Clear skies today. This is the difference the sprinkler mod makes, from setting a water timer for 10 minutes, vs how hot the section of the roof the single sprinkler doesn’t reach, gets from baking in the noonday sun.

P.S.
This little Seek Nano 300 is a useful little device. You’ll find yourself looking at everything from checking insulation, to the breaker box to see which breakers/circuits are warmer, finding mammals at night…

😂 that was a game we used to play often back in the day! Name a State (or a place) and put a noun behind it….. then (or course) had to come up with an inappropriate description!!

Fun when you’re drinking!! 🤣🤣

In the corporate world, the day before a holiday isn't really a work day.

I ain't one to gossip, so you didn't hear that from me.
Thats so true. My firm gives us the week of July 4th off along with the week between Christmas and New Years. They would prefer to pay for holidays rather than pay people for pretending to work.

I work for one of those companies that you hear about in whispers. Unlimited PTO...

My last employer switched to that years ago (only in US offices - it’s illegal in Europe).

The result was that people took less vacations than before (being worried about their job).

The employer had the benefit of not having to accrue vacations / not having to pay them out before layoffs. Smoke and mirrors, IMO.

Exactly this. I just had this conversation with one of my coworkers. It seems like it’s just a selling point that sounds good only from the surface level.
