Also, having the correct battery for my hotwire makes all the difference! I was only getting about 4 days out of a spare Polaris Ranger battery, but this Duracell Marine/RV 80AH was still putting out plenty of juice 12 days later.

Have you ever checked out the Premier One solar mesh fencing. It’s pretty good.

I have a Sauer 6.5 Creedmoor on the way to me now. When we get moved, I plan to take classes. The farthest I have ever shot just for fun was about 600 yards (and it seemed a long way out). There are some shooting clubs out there that have 1000 and 1200 yd ranges which would be fun. I also want to do the rimfire precision shooting, so am eyeballing a CZ 457 MTR as well as fixing up my 10/22 Target. The ‘Long Gong Shoot’ with .22 LR at 300 yards looks like a real blast.

Property in Alaska sounds like a dream. Any particular reason (that you’re willing to share) you’re moving to the lower 48? I imagine life is a bit different up there. I might have missed it if you posted previously.

My wife would like to be closer to her parents as they get older. This cabin property is a dream of mine. We have 240 acres bordered by thousands of acres of state land and we are 6 miles from the road. Critters galore and very peaceful. It will be very hard to leave, but my wife is more important than my getaway. It will be an adjustment for sure, but I plan to take advantage of the outdoor opportunities there.

I have a 6.5 creedmoor but I haven’t shot it more than a couple hundred yards yet. It’s nice to have the capability with that level of recoil though.

I have not. We have had the property for 12 years and only have nuisance bears now and then, so usually just let them get their mischief out of their system. Right now I just have 2 wires run from my small wood shed around the outhouse. The first time one hit the hotwire, it ran through it into the other side!🤣 The brown bears are so much better behaved🤪

I get it - does sound like a hard place to let go of. Are you giving a BF friends discount? Got a couple of bengies under my mattress…

TN has a lot of great opportunities and it’s the south, so that’s a plus…. 🤣
