I’ve got some really nice big pieces of petrified wood I’ve always wanted to cut up. Finally been doing some research.I've got some fluorescent and phosphorescent minerals in a cabinet with 2 wavelengths of UV lamps. Other than that, not really.

I think it's a good video, I think it's good training material. The gist of it is, the average recruit has no idea what to do with a knife and this at least gives him the concept of move around and be aggressive don't just stand there and flail. A plan, even not a perfect plan, is better than no plan. This was WAY better than nothing.
The knife can be improved upon it, has some issues. That's my only role here.
Indeed. My takeaway was that they weren't necessarily trained to "knife fight." Instead, their goal was to take enemies down quietly and learn some grappling techniques to keep themselves alive when something went wrong. I like how he described using the knife like a needle, basically letting the point fall into the enemy. Nothing elegant, just to the point.
Wasn't the AF dagger the improvement?
Is a tooth still a tooth when it's broken?
I believe the Rex Applegate version was the improvement.
Any gem or rock nerds here?
I thought when they were broken, they’re “teefs”It's Teeth, then.... plural.![]()
I don’t think he connected AF with Applegate-Fairbairn.I thought that's what I said/meant?
Now I have to go look up to see if I screwed up...
Thanks
I did not make the connection, my mistake.I don’t think he connected AF with Applegate-Fairbairn.
I think the first thought for many, is Air Force. I know that was what came to mind for me.
We got ours right after we got married over 28 years ago, used them a lot the first 6-7 years, and hung onto them for times like this. They’re in the freezer now….We've had the same ice cube trays for over 20 years![]()
Sort of. My great grandfather had a pretty impressive collection, and I have some of it now. I have a few things I’ve found locally, and we have one of the best shows in the country starting here in Denver shortly. This is a really good place to be if you’re a rockhound.Any gem or rock nerds here?
