All joking aside, many serious issues can happen to people who ‘feel normal’, and yet many serious issues can be managed easily if caught early (or at least known). The human liver is an amazing organ in what it does and can handle. Problem is that it can only handle so much, then says ‘I am done’.
I had a 21 year old patient (athlete) die from a stroke because he thought he was too healthy to have issues, and kept chugging away with supplements not knowing anything about them.
Having a physical and baseline labs is a good idea.
I do not mean to sound preachy- but spending many years caring for and treating patients who could have avoided at least some of the problems makes me want folks to be pro-active instead of reactive. You should not wait until you get your ass kicked to learn to fight, or ignore vehicle maintenance until it breaks down. Same with health imho.
Full disclosure, I am still pissed off that my FIL who died last week did not have his multiple myeloma diagnosed earlier. Not his fault at all.
