Best career move was not caring about working Saturdays so that I could have Mondays off
My best move was not working. My hobby, bladesmithing, has turned financially viable. I sold my house in the city, bought 3.8 acres on North Buck Lake (Alberta, Canada), built a shop. Now my life is comprised of hunting (actually 200 yds out my back door), fishing, and wandering into the shop. My expenses are way down, I am 90 min from the City so very commutable. We dont have quite the level of income we used to, but also dont need it. Most days, I actually dont even know what day it is

One of my dad's regrets was waiting until '80s to retire

He has more money than he will ever spend in his life

And he is only now really getting to start working on hobbies, which it turns out he really enjoys.

He liked his job and he liked his coworkers and he told me "for what they're paying me I would be crazy to quit" but now, in retrospect, he sees that may have been a mistake

“I was at the store checking out, when the clerk said, ‘Strip down, facing me’. By the time I realized she was talking about my debit card, it was too late.”

Usually I just ‘tap’ but sometimes that doesn’t work. Then the clerk says, ‘push it in the bottom"

I love fresh garlic and ginger!

I had a patient once, a young guy that had newly emigrated from Ghana. He came to the ER after a young woman that had welcomed him to America called to let him know that he would do well have some testing done.

A week before his visit to my triage room, he told his mother what had happened (which I thought was a surprising choice).

As he put it, "she made me eat cloves of raw garlic and whole fresh ginger roots until the dripping stopped!"

He still tested positive for gonorrhea though.
