The pucker effect was definitely into play. I didn’t want to shoot if I didn’t have to, but it was close, really close.

Miller High Life celebrated the evening with the shotgun over my legs and a fire at my feet.


Never heard Jack from them the rest of the night, weird but true. Almost assuredly if they knew what could possibly happen.

Had an uncle from the UK (dead ringer/doppelgänger for Marius Weyers from The Gods Must Be Crazy), who told us when we were kids, how him and his crazy friends in boarding school got bored and decided to try stopping ceiling fans with their heads.

“Nuh uh. No way”.

So he showed us. Stood on a tall chair, crouched beneath a ceiling fan, then stood up quickly. Whack. Blade to the forehead. Only left a red mark, but no blood. We were impressed (never tried it).

Even funnier, for anyone who’s seen the movie mentioned; Uncle Roger actually used to say the “Ai yai yaiiiii…” bit, before that movie ever came out”. Our parents found it amusing when me and my brother started saying that anytime something went wrong 😂
