I'm too dumb to understand this.I resurrected my stereo which lasted 20 years before dying in a lightning strike, and set it up in my new place.
I did some frequency sweeps with a calibrated microphone to help adjust the speaker placement. In an untreated room you can land on various bass resonances and cancelations. My starting point was pretty bad, but I improved it quite a bit just by moving them around.
When you think that my shooting ear muffs dampen 30db, a 20db dip is pretty huge.
Initial, left spk in pink, right spk in blue

Now I need to see how much room treatment my wife will let me install...
The profile for the high frequencies is pretty typical in these measurements. I'll have to check my speaker's reference output curve.Nice,Richard338 . What's with the high tones ? Microphone limitation ?
And maybe don't tell your wife that below 100 Hz you can't hear where the sound comes from.![]()
50kHz? What speakers are these? Playing music for bats? The profile for the high frequencies is pretty typical in these measurements. I'll have to check my speaker's reference output curve.
Most people focus on the bass and mid region as that's where you can most easily tweak things.
If I get it close to ideal, then I can optionally adjust it electronically (dsp).
ETA likely the mic (measurement setup), my speaker is within 6db from 30Hz to 50k Hz...
You stud, you.Huh. Haven’t had a zero sleep night in a very long time.
I'm getting a lot less in the past few months than I used to. Guess it's just the march of time.Huh. Haven’t had a zero sleep night in a very long time.

I'm using a free one called REW (room eq wizard). The only thing to buy is a UMIK-1, the calibrated microphone. What software are you using?

One of my favorites that I first saw as a child. Is Kelly's heroes a kid friendly movie
Asking for my kids
I'm glad the mirror people aren't only reassuring me that things are goodAt age 4, I watched a gestapo goon's face melt in Raiders of the Lost Ark and observed a heart transplant from a dragon that sounded like Sean Connery in Dragon Heart. I turned out fine*.
Now, my wife wants me to fast-forwad the fascist hyena marching scene when my daughter watches Lion King. Idk what happened.
Let the kids watch, it's better than 99% of the stuff they can find online.
* well, I think I'm fine, and the faces in the mirror that talk back to me all agree that I'm probably fine.
