Speaking of bowel obstructions and racially sensitive commentary....

...Back when I was working as a new nurse in the ER, I had the sweetest little Asian woman as a patient, couldn't have weighed more than 100lb. Chief complaint of constipation. No BM for 5 days.

We tried everything. Gave fluids, magnesium citrate, she'd been taking dulcolax at home. The charge nurse looked at me and said "time to learn to give an enema"

When the dam finally broke, I was definitely standing too close. The subsequent result was a biomass that appeared to comprise around 25% of her body weight.

She turned, saw what she'd produced and said, "oh my God, it's all noodle!"

As she left she shook my hand and said "thanks be to God and thanks be to you!"

I saw her two more times that summer for the same thing.

I just read it, holy shit 😂. I had a similar episode when I worked in home health, though not quite that extreme...
