Don't say that bro

You'll be okay

Alcohol and substance abuse kills you slowly. Over a long duration of time. It's insidious. You need to give it a chance to work. You're still young. Don't give up.

To the lawyers here, or anyone else that may know, is there a reason that legal documents are written with outdated, overly complicated language. It seems crazy that a simple contract or statement ends up sounding like lines from Game of Thrones.

What kind of document are you dealing with? The short answer is that the lawyer/firms has prepared a document to cover as many "eventualities" as possible. Terms might not seem relevant at the start, but they darn well might when things go sideways.

Most lawyers and firms generate a set of forms from which they start drafting each new deal. They will add new language over time as statutes and standards evolve, and will of course tailor to the specifics of the current deal. Depending on the type and complexity of the matter, pertinent provisions can expand a seemingly simple document from several pages to LOTS of pages.

Chances are, if your lawyer prepares a document with lots of seemingly insignificant, "boiler plate" language that language has made a difference in a prior transaction and they're trying to cover your ass if the same happens to you.

Dude.. I live 1.5 hours from DFW. I used to go in the cheaper than dirt store. Broke my heart when they closed the store

I'm not that mad about it. I used to stop by their store and found most of their inventory to be Chinese bulk stuff, and the quality items were not, in fact, cheaper than dirt. They were rather proud, really. Maybe they were better in days past, but not so 10 years ago.
