They tried to auction off our mall on the courthouse steps today but nobody showed up to bid on it.

Are there really any profitable malls left anywhere that would inspire potential investors to bid on one? It seems the remaining ones all suffer from high tenant turnover and vacancy rates. It is a dying business model with a limited lifespan from dwindling financial "hospice" care.

I have heard that sanctuary cities in my state are discussing the idea of converting these large vacant properties to low or no income housing for displaced "residents." That is a very compassionate idea. The only small detail they need to solve to move forward with the idea is to choose which investors (I mean taxpayers) are going to fund the initial and ongoing cost of the project. Maybe the Legislature and Governor will even add Bullet Train Stations at these locations so that the residents can quickly transit from one sanctuary city to another... o_O

Some still work, some are transitioning to outdoor lifestyle-oriented developments with more residential, and some are being demolished altogether. Times are changing, and the move to online shopping has definitely changed the market for retail space.

There is a large debt attached to this mall, around 38 million. But the new owners do not assume that debt. It may influence a reserve on the price though. Most of the buildings like that can’t be used for housing without major rezoning. It isn’t zoned residential. There was talk of businesses like Home Depot being interested but none of them showed. It may make more sense to them to build new to suit their needs if they decide the town is worthy of a new development. It is notoriously hard, and expensive to get development done around here, discouraging a lot of business from trying.

I'm heading to bed soon.I hope I dream of something like that.

By the way, I don't eat anything for 4 hours before sleep — only drink water. And you know what?

I started sleeping better.
Feeling better.
Jumping higher.
Hitting stronger.
My brain works faster.
My thoughts are clearer.
I walk through walls.
It feels like I'll master levitation soon.

In reality, none of that happened.

Absolutely nothing has changed.
