Yeah, it's just stupid.Holy smokes. I would not have thought that would happen with Toyota
They say the old plugin version of the Ford C-Max was actually pretty good and it's under the radar. Although it is kind of like a fat girl. It might be good, but you don't want your friends to see you in it.
The Lexus plug in 450s are supposed to be pretty good. I was looking for one for Jo for a little while before I forgot that I'm poor.
Hell, even the new Prius is pretty compelling on paper
The industry tried to make the change to an all electric plug-in vehicle too quickly. Toyota figured this out early and they also make very good cars.
EV's have their place (and for in-town driving, I am contemplating it), but the "green-ness" of them can be misplaced. Where did that electricity you're "filling up" with come from / how was it made? Are you sure it's greener than a good hybrid? It's good to have options though. It's strange to me that the pushback against electric vehicles, which is frequently irrational, tends to be a right-wing conservative stance. These are the people that should be all about self-sufficiency and not importing foreign oil.
They're weird about solar panels too
Solar panels have gotten dirt cheap
I think the missing ingredient right now is an easily swappable battery pack.
This would be a pretty ideal setup if the shit hits the fan and everybody else runs out of gas. And not only is your car working, your well and your air conditioning and refrigerator are working too.
All the while reducing dependency on foreign oil. Which tends to come from people who are not our friends. Even if we don't use their oil, our use of oil increases the value of oil.
I look forward to a future where oil is used as a raw material for petrochemicals and not just burnt.
"Saving the environment" is just a happy side effect.
I don't live in Land Cruiser country. I'd get the side eye around here.
But my 2016 Trail Premium fits right in. (Plus I'd feel guilty never cleaning a LC. Nice vehicle though...)
(I had a 2002 Ford Exploder (Eddie Bauer) before that...but the 4WD sucked.)
Totally valid. Love the 2016 4R body style. Trail premium is probably their best package
One day I hope to own a 60 or 62, but in the meantime I'm content with a 4runner. Still a little work to be done (aside from the exhaust leak in the pic) but I've put a lot into this one already and would like to think it's getting close to being "done".

4Runner is the GOAT IMO. LOVE my '99 Limited!!! Especially now that I've gotten the suspension redone with better components and a very slight 1" lift. I'm at ~280k miles now, hoping for a couple hundred thou more...

not bad. My 99 LC has 338k and goingYeah, it's just stupid.![]()

You do an online search, and then it says "Contact dealer for pricing." Then you call them, and they want upwards of $10k over MSRP, because "availability/demand". Fine,
you guys then, I'll take my money elsewhere!
If I get this new job I'm after, I'm looking for something that does a bit better on gas than my '99 4Runner's 14-15MPG lol. Have actually started looking at other hybrid options, maybe even a Honda Civic hybrid sedan. But then I see prices on stuff, and at the same ~$35k, I could also go get a more fun, but still reasonably fuel-efficient (and RWD/stick) GR86...![]()
