Just sent the last payment to our house builders

PS: We have to be out of the cabin mid June - as Daughter #1 will visit for a month and stay in it . House bedroom and dining room are unpacked and furnished. Kitchen is in progress - when that's done we'll move in.

Congratulations that has to feel good. The real question is when will all the knives be unpacked?

Oh, they are accessible already. As shown here via a different knife photo per day from Dec to March. Haven't figured out yet how to store/display them, just not a priority yet. Will be a nice project coming winter.

Spent the day with Abigail at the raptor center hospital. Pretty neat. A barred owl tried to escape and smack me on the top of the head. Very cool.

Speaking of barred owls… came home the other night and found this on my sons car

It’s an extremely old photo. I’m stepping out at night to close the store, and there’s a chicken sitting on the windowsill of the roller shutters.
Just a chicken.

I called my grandfather, he came and took her for himself.

The store is right by the highway, so she literally had nowhere to come from

I was fortunate enough to see a great horned owl in the wild also. I was in awe. The thing was huge and the talons were insane. It felt like the thing was staring into my soul even from 20 yards or so away. Just amazing.

I’ve only seen one owl in the wild.

We had a little one fall out of a tree, when I was a kid.

The GSD found it (and amazingly, didn’t eat it). Didn’t see where it came from. Didn’t see a mommy owl. So we took it in and named it Perry.

Cousin: “Oh, haha! For peripheral vision?”
“Yep”.

Nursed it until it could fly then took it outside and let it go one evening.

*** Man, those things can turn their heads!

We've had a pair on our property for years. In the winter they "court" and hoot to one another all night.
