Random Thought Thread

We’re all big boys and girls here, no need for rules or censors. I don’t always give away knives, I’ve floated my mortgage off my knife collection at times and sold many pieces for considerably higher prices than I paid. I’ve given lots away too. Personally I never sell a CPK knife below what I paid because I think it’s cool for them to go for more than retail in the secondary market. It makes it cooler to score in a Friday sale. I also think people are free to share opinions about pricing outside of the sale thread itself and if you don’t like those opinions you take that into consideration in your pricing, or don’t. Just be cool about it and do what you want.

Yup, just be cool and don't drive people away in here by overtly name & shaming 'em. We're all guests on here; this please is Jo's & Nathan's leasehold from BF.com which is the actual owner. If someone really behaves against the unwritten codes of proper conduct, I have no doubt that Nathan is more than able to sweep the trash away. In all my memory since the CPK inception, there was only ONE such character when he was dealt with swiftly but more importantly discreetly (in here NOT on W&C, LOL). Nathan has also banned one person in his Mod capacity when that person (most likely a previously banned character) was trying to hawk some BS Westinghouse Micarta block. Nathan = Cool.

^This.

Those who voice complaint about secondary markets and items selling for more than original cost have lost sight from some very basic business principles. And no one should be called out in this forum by name or inuendo about his or her trading habits. Such people need to go twit on Twitter instead - at least IM very HO..... Have a nice day.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone. Please take a moment and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifce for all of us.

Saturday was an awesome trail ride meetup with some folks on a Toyota forum.

Yesterday we spent a lazy day floating down Terrapin Creek.

Well that looks like great fun! Glad you were able to get out and enjoy it. Mike

Folks who do their legwork and involve themselves in the process of buying a knife directly from CPK get the privilege of paying the absolute minimum for the knives, and those who lack the savvy or work ethic to get in on the scene here are going to pay a premium because someone else did the work of sourcing the knife for them.

I can agree with most of your post, but not this part.

My “work ethic” keeps me too busy to make the majority of these sales and I’m sure this is the case for many folks here also that don’t have the luxury to take time off of work or hunt down high internet speeds.

When it comes to rare items, the sky’s the limit.
That isn’t the case here when you consider the fact that these FK2’s are being mass produced.

Loved the post of your weekend outing 91bravo 91bravo ...

and thank you for your service brother !!!

I will say I don't like seeing knives bought with the sole purpose of flipping for profit ... with no intent on using the knife or wanting it (whether to use or collect) ... whether our beloved CPKs or a spring run of very limited numbers from other makers ... it does take a knife from someone who legitimately wanted it ...

But people will do what they do and thankfully and fitting to say on this day ... we have that right to buy or sell or not to ...

nothing we say will change a flippers opinion ... and I think we all know Nathan and CPK's knives could probably sell at the same speed with a significantly higher price ... and I am thankful Nathan and Jo try to provide us with the best quality knives and the best CS I know of from any maker ... at an incredible value ...

so I just do my thing and try to help those I believe truely want these knives ... and I will still try to help when possible ... but if as mentioned I proxied for someone and within 24 hours of receiving the knife it's up for sale at a substantial profit ... I would just remember not to proxy again for that member ...

but I think we are damn lucky that most everyone that follows CPK and joins in the subforum are too notch folks that are buying for the right reasons ...

and for the few that arent ... we can't police that so no need to lose any sleep over it ... if they ask to much the only thing anyone can do is just refuse to play their game and not pay what they ask ...

now Happy Memorial Day ... and thank you to all who have ir currently are serving ... and to their families for the sacrifices they make with loved ones service.
