I learned about it when I thought about getting one to mow the area behind my cabin. There is a reason the new entry level ones are cheaper than a new Honda snowblower🤪. Don’t beat yourself up- maybe you and the boys can fix it together.
 
My craftsman tractor is 25 years old. It's 21hp which is overkill for my needs, but was the one on sale when I went shopping. At this point it burns about 4oz of oil every time I do the lawn (it takes 48oz total, so almost 10%), but I just make sure to keep some oil on hand. Have had to replace a couple parts along the way, but doesn't owe me anything, and plan to run it into the ground.

Around my parts the #1 culprit seems to be the newer huge distribution center in Indy. Bit off more than they can chew assuming big new machines could handle what humans at multiple locations used to do. Now trailers of packages just sit for days without movement/updates. I will say with all the extra surveillance we can expect to go down with AI in the upcoming years Im hopeful letters might start getting respect again.

Mismanagement, of course. Combine that with crippling energy costs and a severe shortage of people willing to work hard and you have a perfect storm. It’s been building for decades.

Over a decade ago, our fantastic postman told me that he had three bosses! Essentially they were trying to make him less customer friendly. If you see your delivery person, thank them. It’s an uphill battle for them.
 
Our mail delivery person is a great guy with a great personality. I dread the days he's off however...as the subs don't give a shit. And beyond that, he can't make sure the mail gets to him to deliver in the first place.

One of my recent packages went from the regional sorting center to another post office relatively local to our town, to my local P.O. which promptly sent it back to the regional sorting center which then repeated the process the following day at which point the package was delivered. Seriously WTF?

There was nothing wrong with the package or labeling.

Our carrier couldn't figure it out and said he'd try to find out what happened with his management, but that seemed to go nowhere.

Stupid people strike again.

Whether it’s stupidity in (mis)management, or stupid people on the front lines.

Tried ordering a Walmart+ delivery last week. Usually never have issues with them. This time, I got to watch the moron who was supposed to deliver my stuff drive to who knows where, then submit a “Delivered” photo that was most definitely not my house.

In the past, one of my neighbors and I would occasionally find each other’s packages on our doorstep, so we both put up BIG house numbers right by the door. Morons will take the ‘Delivered’ photo with the wrong house number clearly in the photo.

This is what happens with mouthbreathing morons who just go, “Duhhhhh… GPS says it’s around here somewhere. Good ‘nuff”, and are too stupid to be able to read house numbers (and probably street names) to compare and confirm they’re at the right location.

We lament how the commonality of GPS on phones means most younger folks can’t read a map nowadays. They apparently also never learned simple things like checking street names, and looking at house numbers (much less doing things like, “OK, even numbers are on that side, odd numbers are this side. The number I’m looking for is ####. Oh, hang on… I just passed ####, then ####, and the numbers are descending. That means the address I’m looking for is the OTHER way. Gotta turn around”.

Now, we have idiots going, “My GPS made me drive off a cliff! WAAAAAAA!!!” (Yes, that actually happened. Is the driver really that stupid? Yes. Was Darwin cheated? Also; yes).

There's a similarly named street that runs into ours, right near our house. The numbers are in the same range. The guy on that street, at the same number as ours is also named Richard. We are both used to taking over the other guy's mail. He tends to get more gun mags than me and I get more knife mags...

In that case, I can kind of understand the mix up.

I think someone in this subforum mentioned a package being delivered to a “not that similar” street in a completely different town 🙄

A few months back, I had a package from UT make it all the way to my local USPS office, then turn around and go all the way back to UT, before turning around again and finally making it to me a week later than it could’ve/should’ve been delivered.
 
My local USPS is great. I've had the same carrier for around a decade, I could almost set my watch by the sound of my mail slot.

A while back I had an expensive international shipment go astray. The sender had messed up the address, it had my name and city/state/zip, but some other street address that doesn't exist here. I could see it bouncing around local post offices and tried to go to one to get it, but they wouldn't give it to me. I talked to my local mail guy when he came by, and a couple days later he delivered it to me.
