Thoughts from youtube: bears seem to be the sneakiest of predators. They amble along, sniff around, look interested at the grass, you think its going to pass by you, all the while moving closer and then charge.
Unless bear cubs are in the picture- then its a straightforward charge by mama bear or they have decided that you are prey, right at the onset of the encounter.
