No hunter, I, but I’d use Buffalo Bore, Underwood, or Grizzly. They all make bear loads for handguns.

Yup. Sucks though for encountering the many bears in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Illinois, and California, since they have a lead ban, no ?

You need a heavy copper solid in that case.

Not Richard338, but have put lots of rounds through my 4” .500. Buffalo Bore makes great stuff, and a pretty nice choice of loads.

.500 is a fantastic round, I simply found it heavier than I wanted on my chest while fishing or hiking.

Well, there is a grizzly on the CA flag. Even though it has been extirpated (my English word of the day) there.

Besides Illinois, the other states in the list have all Black Bears though.
