Random Thought Thread

I normally go with the two-is-one concept but I do have the HDFK in 3s as an outlier (I feel very partial toward that pattern!) There was a time when I owned like 3-4 of everything but that stretched the budget a bit when Nathan started to offer some semi-custom options in his latest preorders so the extras had to go. FWIW, I also weaned off the multiples of each chopper pattern; probably a mistake in the long run as another CPK chopper will probably not happen for quite a while but Nathan choppered the heck outta CPK in 2018-2019.

Is there any point in having two or more backups of a single model or does just one backup suffice?

Would like to hear your opinions on this as I try to reformat the collection.

Thanks
First, I am the wrong guy to give an opinion.....

Second, most of these other fuggers won't be a whole lot better.......

......all that out of the way, I used to have seventeen EDC1/EDC2s, I still have seven or eight I think, hard to say, they are everywhere I might need one. So, yeah, one is none, two is one, three is for me, four, I need more......

Keep buying if it makes you feel good and you have he means. Stop when either of the other two things go tits up.

Also, feel free to contact me first as you restructure the collection!

Does anyone have terotuf for the original field knife they'd be willing to part with? I have scales to trade or of course cash = ]

Responding here @Visyoual so as not to choke up the BST thread, but I don't think TT scales for the OG Field Knife were ever produced. Happy to learn otherwise, and if they are actually available maybe someone will help you out. I don't think they do though....

Tony, there were some produced but very, very few! I'd be surprised if their numbers in the wild were more than 10! The last ones which showed up for trader were originally on a used/abused and beat up OG-FK which I passed on and were claimed by Adam (trevitrace) who managed to clean 'em up really nicely. Other than that, they're unicorns ;)

I watched Nate's destruction video. Two thoughts came to mind. He wouldn't pass the ABS journeyman test, but I doubt that a plain carbon blade would survive some of the things Nate did to the knife.
Softer blades might pass the bend test.

There were two knife testers on the forums. One wore a hockey mask and the other was Cliff Stamp. Cliff was banned. I don't know that happened to the other guy. Cliff's tests were generally not
destruction tests although his cutting tests did often damage the blade.

Sux.
But I'm guessing you made it back to be able to post that (at least to the edge of civilization). Need us to come search for you?

Yeah I’ve been there, hate it when the ride breaks down. Hopefully you made it back and warmed up.

Broke down Friday, gathered equipment and made a plan yesterday, got it out today. On the one hand it stinks because it's time lost and money to fix it. On the other hand, I know EXACTLY who my friends are lol :D

Well glad you are good and got it out and back.
I hear you and been there myself. I’m kinda lucky that most mechanical stuff I fix myself. But it’s double time lost as I don’t pay myself lol and usually I broke it. Getting things unstuck , fixing broke stuff , especially in cold, brings out true friends.
I got my F250 stuck and broke out in the back field trying to move a turnout shed. Two out of five phone calls showed up.
