getting started on a newish job today- put it off yesterday due to high winds, but today we've got some delightful heavy rain. I guess if I'ma learn how to operate an excavator, it might as well be in the worst possible conditions?

Well glad you are good and got it out and back.

Thanks Duramax. Warm and dry sure does beat wet and cold. I've got a ceased front differential and had to cut out the front drive line so that I could come out in 2wd with jetsleds under the front tracks which wouldn't turn.

Hey Dave, very glad that you made it back safely  Did your lifted Suzuki broke down on you?

I ended up selling that little Samurai Mat. I really didn't want to, and am still a bit regretful. But it was too high for my folks who are elderly to get into, and they both still love to hunt as long as I will take them, so I had to go a different route and needed the money out of it to change machines. I bought a polaris ranger and decked it out with a cab and heat...whole nine yards. They can easily slide into the bench seat on it, so it's a good deer and elk hunting rig. But when I put tracks on it and tried to make a winter rig out of it, I'm finding that it just won't hold up. I think it's just this particular model, because I have friends that are running different year machines without this kind of trouble. My buddy that took me back in was running a Honda Pioneer 1000 with mattracks and that sucker cruised in there easy peasy.

Pictures are probably better than words in this case. Anyone in the market for two slightly used jetsleds?

Outstanding. What are you running? We use Bobcat 418/E10 for micros and I have a Cat 302CR for the slightly bigger stuff.

I don't recall, but it's about 1600 lbs and 5' wide. Lucky for me, the guy who owns it is also willing to do the work, which is way more efficient since I don't have to learn, and he's pretty good. It's a very difficult site with thin soil, loam and a lot of rock. Lots of exposure so I've kept it in the trees, which provides its own challenges. Several switchbacks to maintain grade as there is a lot of slope to deal with and 2-4 percent spec'd. The machine will, and already has, made a huge difference, but there is still going to be 100s of hours of hand work

I don't own any vehicular equipment yet, but now have a vehicle that I can tow with. Ditch Witch SK600 is at the top of my list, and a power barrow would be great to start out with

Think I might just chill at home tomorrow...
