Nathan the Machinist's take on COVID 19:
...
Nathan, Your calculation might not be too far off.

Here is an interesting article by a mathematician:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/05/health/coronavirus-deaths-rates.html
He estimates the Covid-19 death rate will be 0.5-2.0%.

According to CDC data, over the past 9 years on average 28.6 million people in the US get the flu each year, with the death rate being a little over 0.13% (average US flu deaths/year = 37,462). I personally think Covid-19 is more contagious than most flu viruses (although I have no credentials to back that up). Depending on how many people become infected and the actual death rate, I think the # deaths could be relatively high; for example, even 50 million cases times a death rate of 1.25% (average of 0.5% & 2.0%), that would equal 625,000 deaths. Covid-19 is nothing to take lightly; prepare now if you have not already done so!

yeah it's bad, and far worse a year from now. The march of the micro organisms is on and it likely won't get better no matter what we do at this point. Well, we could die off, that might help!

A bit more optimistic.
I got my FK2 a couple weeks ago. In yesterday's sale Nathan says if they don't sell out over the weekend then they'll offer something new...
I'm thinking if we can show a little restraint then next week it's daggers all around!!
Ok, maybe a bit too optimistic.

Feel free to make an offer. I haven't spent any time on the sales thread lately so not really sure what these have been going for.

If you are interested in my worthless 2 cents, here it goes as someone without a dog in this fight. In fact the very same UF with the exact same options was offered to me about 2 months ago and I managed to convince the then indecisive owner as to why he'd regret it if he sold it to me ;)

First and foremost, it's the market in which we are in. At this time of the year, there are burdens of paying extra taxes for those who dabble in the higher end cutlery and other want-based "luxury" items. Add to that the FUD (fear / uncertainty / doubt) elements that is gripping us Worldwide and then the higher end knife market is quite dormant. In fact, I think that Nathan's knives are probably among the very few brands which are risk averse, specially those which are closer to the CPK's MSRP and in the lower end CPK price spectrum with the exception of the vaunted SHIV (supply & demand rules the day on that one).

I know that this one which you have FS has very few identical ones, which should still make it quite desirable unless the sky literally falls on top of us tomorrow! So in my bloviating, rambling and unsolicited opinion if you add up all the extras and add say $50-$100 on top all in for a prospective buyer, you ought to get a few more bites. Honestly, I should be all over this one as this was hand rubbed and satin-finished by the Maester Artist's own hands and since I already have a DEF version of this, but even as crazy as I am, I am being careful with my remaining shekels these days.

In closing, if you want to give it away, give me a holler :D :p

^ OK, I shut my big fat mouth for a few seconds and went to the thread and added it all up so a UF in your arrangement would've cost about $300 on top of the base price of $305 so you're not far off, but sadly it's the state of today's World :(

Just as fun factor, I went and checked on the Knife Makers fixed blades for sale which is super, super slow. At the first glance, one may be surprised that Nathan's FK2s have not sold out yet but he's among the only knife makers who is actually very much in demand and lest we forget that he's sold a shyte-load of these UFKs/FK2s already.

I think that under any other circumstance, your unique and beautiful UF should've been snapped up by now.

here's a random picture that I just want to put somewhere since I'm already in the mode. Sorry for interrupting :)
