I totally agree with you nathan (not only because you are nathan lol)

Eventho i was born at beginning of 90s, ive grew up in country which had very hard last 30 years... in last 30 years we had 3 wars, 2 revolutions, not talking about years without electrocity till 2000, crisis and people struggling without normal food... when kids in europe and usa collected toys and cards we used to collect fired bullets in streets (the bigger bullet you found, cooler you was lol)... first time when i saw sega genesis it was 2002 and 2004 when i played sony 1 lol... i was 13 years old when i had my first cellphone (btw it was year when ive tried marijuana first time also lol)... well anyways my childhood times where hard but still lots of awesome memories, i remember how people used to help each other, completely different people where kind to each other, always shared food and helped in every way. Thats right nathan hard times force people to think about each other, to help each other, because othervise it will be hard to survive those hard times... and after around 2010 when situation became more stable people became cold, only thinking about their own selfs and pleasure... most of todays kids are being annoying... sometimes wanna kick their asses as hard as possible lol.. how the fck will kid grow when you give phone at the age of 4? You know that is fault of lazy parents, they give phone so kid will be zombied and wont disturb them, and they dont care the fuck kid will see/watch in internet... you can control it.. and that way kids usually found stupid vlogs of retarded people teaching dumb shit, kids watching violence, sexual stuff etc, and how will kid grow normal that way? You know kids are like sponges, soaking every information they recieve, and internet gives them 99% bullshit from age of five... and imagine when they will grow up with that mind and will habe their own families (if they will have.. as family life is becoming old fashion nowdays...) and they will have their children what they will teach them, how they will rise them? Even worse generation will come for sure... also todays children cant normally live independatly, became ill easily and if you will take 10y old kid in forest where is no cell phone, internet and "civilization" he/she will go mad or die from depression lol... when we loved to hick around during summertime, play in streets in city (nowday children took form of chair by playing videogames...), old was everything good.. live relationships are changed with fb messanger and social networks when during old times only way to socialize was to lift your butt from chair and go outside...

So hard times, got its positive things as you said nathan. And todays technological revolution got its big negative things in my opinion...
that is some real fucking talk right there

People who grew up during the world wars and great depression became the real "adults" in this world. Responsible, self reliant and pragmatically grounded in reality. These were hardened people. What makes an entire generation great? They saw shit. Real experiences.

Subsequent generations, starting with the greedy self centered boomers (no offence*) down through the easily offended self-righteous millennials (no offence*) we have seen people become soft, easily offended, worked up about all the wrong and trivial things and distracted by all the endless bullshit everywhere. Because they have nothing actually real to be worried about. It's like an immune system that seldom sees real pathogens, it develops allergies because it can't even tell what's real anymore. Without real problems, people invent them. We get recreational outrage.

So here's my random thought. Perhaps a silver lining to this situation is regular people are going to see what real hardship actually is. It isn't people with different religious or political opinions and values than you. Or if you find something objectionable or politically incorrect. It isn't what consenting adults do in the privacy of their home. It isn't whether or not different species of animals need equal right protections. It isn't even about toilet paper shortages. It's about the real hardship that everyday folks are going to experience when they lose their jobs for a while, loose a big chuck of their investments, lose loved ones and see people in their local community die, and experience an economic collapse on the order of the great depression that causes temporary shortages of critical things like fresh meat and medicines. People today are soft and going through some hard times might harden them up.

So it is my hope that there may be a silver lining in all this where perhaps people who have never seen what real problems actually look like might develop some perspective and gain some life skills.

We're all going to be fine. (well, not all of us). But there will be an end to this. The contraction may be bigger than the great depression, but it isn't going to go on endlessly and it won't be followed by WW2. People will be subjected to bad things and they will survive them and come out the other side a little less helpless and with a better appreciation of things.

*… offence intended :D
Every generation is resilient in their own way and excelled in what they did to survive.

Internet is the new world and changed our way of life. I could never imagine one could make a career out of posting YouTube videos and earn millions out of it or create a social media web site and became a billionaire or a professional gamer. I belong to the generation that one have to put time and hard work into the traditional industry to earn a living.

Making a living from the Internet new world is also not that easy either. One have to spend crazy hours in front of the computer and compete at the global level. This is something I cannot do. I will fall asleep after 2-3 hours. This is also probably the group that beat most of us on the Friday knife sales LOL

Everybody else out there also doing an essential job keeping the world turning in these uncertain times...stay safe and keep kicking ass. All those stuck at home...try to stay calm and carry on, if we stay rational we'll get through this just fine. Food, water, power, emergency services...remember the people who are keeping our society humming along.

That is Classic!

I have a Sheep-a-doodle that my Wife bought ( because she wanted it ) because it’s better for my severe allergies. It was a beautiful black and white mix but by the time it was two it was more of a white and gray, just like I’ve been since I was 30. I make the joke about dogs looking like their owners all the time, but at this point if I did a face swap pic I’m afraid nobody wold notice ;)

Unintended yet good or even better consequences of the Covid-19 shutdown:

- Lots of people walking on the trails, although very annoying for me and my dog who used to be the insular kings of these trails

- Much cleaner air quality, specially in the LA basin where my Ex and Kids live

- Families spending more time together and hopefully achieving more meaningful. bonding

- More reading?

- Catching up with unfinished projects / to do list
