I feel like every forum needs a spot where folks can just shoot the breeze. Not every post has to be full of helpful advice—sometimes it's just about smack talk, random thoughts, or venting about life. Sometimes what I say is useful, but it’s always delivered with a little bite.
That said, if I ever say anything that rubs someone the wrong way, don’t take it personally. I talk this way to my wife and she just ignores me half the time. Some folks say I come across like a prick—that’s not my intention. I don’t sugarcoat, I just say what needs to be said. If I ever cross the line, call me out. I never mean to put anyone down or mess with people’s delicate feelings. (See what I did there?)
Anyway, as you can probably tell from that intro, I’m a Gen X guy. Grew up tough because, like the song says, “If you’re gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.” I live on the coast of NC and work in commercial construction as a superintendent. Most of my work is out of town, which I guess my office thinks I prefer... sure. Nothing says “living the dream” like paying a mortgage but leasing random apartments during the week.
With our daughters married and out of the house, my wife—who works remote—joins me every few weeks for a few days. If I’m further out, we do the flight thing every two weeks. We've had some fun and seen some great places, but yeah... it gets old.
So that’s me. What about y’all?
Andy, if this kind of post doesn’t fit the rules, no hard feelings. Just delete it. I’ll survive.
