I feel like every forum needs a spot where folks can just shoot the breeze. Not every post has to be full of helpful advice—sometimes it's just about smack talk, random thoughts, or venting about life. Sometimes what I say is useful, but it’s always delivered with a little bite.

That said, if I ever say anything that rubs someone the wrong way, don’t take it personally. I talk this way to my wife and she just ignores me half the time. Some folks say I come across like a prick—that’s not my intention. I don’t sugarcoat, I just say what needs to be said. If I ever cross the line, call me out. I never mean to put anyone down or mess with people’s delicate feelings. (See what I did there?)

Anyway, as you can probably tell from that intro, I’m a Gen X guy. Grew up tough because, like the song says, “If you’re gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.” I live on the coast of NC and work in commercial construction as a superintendent. Most of my work is out of town, which I guess my office thinks I prefer... sure. Nothing says “living the dream” like paying a mortgage but leasing random apartments during the week.

With our daughters married and out of the house, my wife—who works remote—joins me every few weeks for a few days. If I’m further out, we do the flight thing every two weeks. We've had some fun and seen some great places, but yeah... it gets old.

So that’s me. What about y’all?

Andy, if this kind of post doesn’t fit the rules, no hard feelings. Just delete it. I’ll survive.

This post fulfills all the rules. It's exactly what we need.

I'm Andy. I was an electrical engineer. I turned my hobby into a business in 2008 or so. On May 1, 2009 I went full time bc of a layoff. You guys saved my ass.

I'm forever in your debt.

I'm with you on that. I do have to have lots of meetings now days. Seems its the only way to get these people together and force them to talk to each other. Lot of the generation I deal with is scared to interact with other trades and complains if they have to work more than 40 hours a week. I would love to work 40 hrs a week. My typical week is 11 hour days unless we are crazy than longer plus weekends. I feel for the younger people getting into this industry as its just going to get harder. Back to your point with meetings I get sooo bored in these. If I'm not leading I just make sure I have a knife to sharpen or carve the table. I do Teams alot so at least I can walk around and I don't use camera.

Hello, I’m Blaine. I’m a fire protection engineer and I feel your pain.

Its going to be a special opening I will tell you.
All my packages are special. Sometimes I'm opening something I forgot I ordered and its like a surprise. Of course sometimes is some crap my wife ordered and had sent to my apartment for her so its kinda a let down. LOL When I get a knife package I have a tradition to open it with same brand of knife. So when it comes it will be opened with a FF knife of some sort. Wife just laughs at me as sometimes I will get multiple packages and have to use multiple knives to open. Anytime she get something she will ask me if I want to cut it open but of course I have to go get the perfect blade so sometimes she gets impatient and opens with a key. LOL

Well UPS working late tonight and they just dropped a package at my apartment. I was super careful not to jinx it so I chose the blades wisely. IMG_3833.jpegIMG_3834.jpegIMG_3835.jpegIMG_3836.jpeg

The top Hiking Buddy with green scales was one I sent for refurbishing. The Runt I sent for refurbish and the yellow Bushboot some might recognize from last Fridays drop. I gave everyone a chance and nobody moved so it grabbed it. This thing looks amazing in person. Thanks Andy Fiddleback Fiddleback for your help and great products. Guys there is still some amazing blades available on the website. I know some blades don’t appeal to some but there is a variety of different styles available. Take a look and see if one appeals to you. My favorites right now are the Hiking Buddy and Bushboot. I am very interested in the Hiking Buddy Jr just waiting for the right one.

Whew, relieved. Thought I was going to witness an instance of Schroedinger's Knife...

Nice blades, all.
