That would be aroung $160 for a RD7 in 3V. That is $120 less then a Fehrman First Strike and around $20 less then even the "Best Buy" Ratwieler. Wow indeed! :D

My RD7 arrived yesterday, so I thought I’d post a few first impressions.

The fit and finish is good for a knife in this price range.

The handle is comfortable for slicing and chopping, but I’d like the option of more aggressively textured scales.

The choil allows for a comfortable forward grip, which makes the blade easy to control for fine work. I’ve already used the knife to prepare two meals, and it had no problem with anything other than pealing potatoes.

I’ve already used the knife to trim some finger thick branches off of the Carob trees in the back yard, and the knife chopped cleanly through the green wood.

Removing one-inch branches from a fallen Gum tree branch was easy, and the knife effectively hacked into the dry wood of the main branch.

Justin thinned the edge for me, and it works very well.

The sheath is robust and functional, and the kydex insert fits well. The blade does not rattle when the retention strap is done up.

Justin was a great guy to do business with, and I look forward to my next purchase from Ranger Knives (probably something like an RD6 in 3V).

My RD7 came in 3-4 days after I placed an order. I didn't expect the lightning fast service!! wow!! After playing with the RD7, I can only say it's very comfortable in my hand and fits like a glove. The only thing that I would change is have the guard a bit longer. This is only to have a more secure grip during heavy stabbing or chopping. Overall It's a nice package and the Spec-Ops sheath it came with is excellent too. I haven't taken it outdoors yet but I get the feeling I'll be very impressed. Nice job, Justin! keep up the good work.

It is good to hear that you got the blade safe and sound. It is also good to hear that you like it. Can't wait to see what destruction you bring about with it. :D

Hey Justin, would it be possible to have the edge thinned down on mine? I think mine came with the thicker edge and the real smooth handles. The handles aren't as big a deal, but the edge will take a while on the Sharpmaker.

Love the way the knife feels though for the once over I gave it when it got here :D

Not a problem just send it to me and I can take care of it and get it straight back to you. If you would like take it out and abuse it for a while then send it in for a refit. It is up to you but when ever you are ready just let me know.

I can do a custom 3V version for you if you would like. I am still trying to figure out when and if I will be able to do a production run. I am working on a custom 3V for someone right now so if you would like me to get moving on one for you as well just shot me an email and we can work out all of the details.

You've got mail :D

I do allot of custom work that the customer designs or that we both have a part in. So I am always open to seeing what design ideas other knife nuts come up with. So by all means when you are ready just let me know. Thanks again.

Hey Justin,

Just wondering how possible it would be to order a set of scales plus hardware and a sheath for a 7 incher. I have one of those blanks I'm still working on that I purchased from you that I would love to complete with nice black micarta scales. The RD7 is gonna have someone to keep him company ;) Thanks :)

it's a testament to justin's work and his willingness to take customer feedback and give us what we want!

justin, how's the 3V prototype coming along? have you decided to do a production run in 3V yet? if not, what's holding you back?

merry christmas to all!

I am always happy when I am grinding.....well that is till I screw something up. :D

Well I haven't started yet. Still waiting on the steel to get here. Can't wait though. Still trying to figure out if 3V will be a possibility for a production run or not. I have a folder that I have been working on since Blade show. Trying to get all the bugs worked out and ready for production. So right now that is the hot thing for me. The 3V RD series is still up there but I am really excited about the folder since I am almost ready for production on it.

Thanks again and I hope that you got all the sharp pointy things you wanted for Christmas.
