After nearly a month of destructive testing with various heat treat recipes with liquid nitrogen cryogenics and my new Kiln I now feel confident adding in D2 and 154CM to my steel offerings.

In celebration I am holding a giveaway!
The knife to be awarded has yet to be made and will be a full custom made to the winners specifications within the following criterion:
- Will be made of D2 or 154CM
- Blade length no greater than 10 inches.
- Will use "standard" handle and guard materials. Exotics may be used but only at the winners expense (cost only)

In order to enter:
- As of this posting you must have at least 99 forum posts.
- Post to this thread a picture or sketch of the knife you would like should you win the contest and which material you would like... feel free to ad discussion :) (entrants will not be held to the knife they post as the exact knife we settle on for their prize and I encourage everyone if not familiar with my work to check out my website and facebook in order to have realistic expectations of my style and capabilities)
- Each member can only enter once.

This contest will run until 8AM Central time January 14, 2016.

In please.
You pick the materials please.
Are you familiar with the Sting boot knife? That's the one and A. G. gives you permission.
danks,
rolf

Very doable... and as mine are handmade it would only be stylistically like sting... so I wouldn't be worried about trademark infringement.

The above is the style knife I would like. I need a cool chefs knife 10" long - Japanese style

Would like D2 steel with maybe black G10 with Red liners.

I really like your designs on the website. May have to save some money for a purchase soon.

Thanks for the chance at this drawing.

Kevin

If a "you pick the type" wins they are getting a D2 western style tanto .. been looking for a reason to add one to my gallery

Oooh so cool and generous. I'm in.

Since the ZT180 is one of my favorite fixed blades, I'd love to see something similar, but smaller for EDC. Maybe in the 3-3.5" blade range. Four finger grip, but no need for extra or skull crusher ends. Really just a standard do-anything drop point that is easy to carry. Oh, and in D2. I've only got a little D2, but love the stuff so far. Even with my novice sharpening skills takes a killer edge.

I have no vision for handle. In wood, I love anything burl. Also really like smooth/polished G10/Micarta. Also, blue or red translucent C-Tek would look very cool. I don't know what is considered exotic other than ivory, mammoth and such, but maybe everything mentioned would be.

Please ignore any oddities and flaws in the sheath shown above. It was home made.

Exotic is just the mammoth, ivory, etc type stuff... as most of my handles are burls or micarta that fits right in or would enjoy c-tek since it would be a new material for me.

I'm in.
How about a pikal style knife?

What a fantastic way to celebrate!

'Borrowed' this picture from the internet:

I would love to see your interpretation of a Loveless-style drop-point hunter (without the naked lady picture please). Handle material, I've been itching to get something in orange or red camel bone. Even if it costs extra. I'm a huge fan of wood too, like Cocobolo.

what a great giveaway, I'm in!
here's one of my drawings, which is open to be discussed with the maker eventually. :)

Very nice. Only adjustment I would make would be to add distal taper to improve balance, strength, and cutting geometry.

Gotta love a loveless...

The pikal blade is meant to be held in an upside down ice pick grip with the blade facing in. The philosophy is that if the knife makes contact with an adversary the cut will be worse as the adversary pulls away. I'm not planning on knife fighting just think the shape is cool.
Thanks again,
TC

Interesting.... very single purpose.... think I'd prefer a small double edge but if you win I'll be glad to make one.
