I decided to remove the black coating and it slices better than before.
The pictures were taken last week and the knife has a fairly dark patina now. The RC-3 is my favourite knife :).

If you are searching for a comprehensive yet compact survival kit, this is the one!

Alright ... I'm convinced, I want an RC-5 ... anyone know of any Canadian distributers ... I *hate* dealing with customs.

damn everyone here and Rat Cutlery. b/c of all your awesome pictures, great stories, and the solid community here, i've thrown down and bought a rc-6. hopefully i will be able to wield its almighty power! wish me luck!

:thumbup:That's a beaut. KintlaLake! Great choice for your first,........ but not last! Try as you many to resist but you will succumb to this temptress. Just holding and gently caressing this knife in your hands, your fingers softly touching and following the curved lines past the tips and down the spine...oh sorry got carried away. Get ready for the infestation. These lil' beauties are hard to quit, I had my eye on a Bark River before I got my first Rat. Now, 6 RC Knives later I am working to get my 7th. Anyone know where the Rat Cutlery Anonymous meetings are held ?

Thanks, guys, but your warnings came too late -- an RC-3MIL-P showed up yesterday. :D

As for Bark River...ain't nobody gonna talk me outta my Bravo-1. Likewise my Blind Horse Knives Small Work Horse (below). Both keepers, keepin' company with my new RATs.

All great stuff, all made here, all done right.

The Izula impressed me today. I have to take this little guy much more seriously now!

There are plenty of ways to carry the Izula.
I used a smaller-size cord on the wrap, went for the minimalist look, and melted the ends together.
