RAT Fire kit ....WOW !

I am very impressed with the design and size of it...I will order a few more after the 1st of the year...
Will Derrick carry the replacement rods ?

What knife or other tool did you use? Was it harder to strike, in your opinion, than a ferrocerium rod? Did it dull the knife on the area struck?
 
We will carry the replacement rods as they become available.
I can't wait to play with one myself. Christmas parties, church responsibilities, family, etc.....keeps me pretty busy!
 
Yeah they are awesome. I have a misch metal rod its cool stuff. Mine is like 6in long though, wonder if I could use it as a replacement:D
 
Anyone that uses up the misch metal rod on the fire kit probably needs to get a new profession since there is no call to be in a survival situation that many times in your life! :D
 
Thats what I am thinking. I want to get a plain mish metal rod to practice with, and keep the fire kit for emergency use only.
 
Great job on the fire kit Jeff...I was surprised to open the package and see how big the Fire kit was... fits in hand well....and more room in the handle than I anticipated.

So......What are you guys puttin in your kits?

These things are so badass. I love it, and man Derrick shipped em fast. Kudos to KSF!!

Im on the fence between fire straws, fatwood dust, pj cotton, or a minimalistic type PSK.
 
J I'll take two of those compasses if they are still available:) I knew Id have to order a dozen and I was planning to give the extras away as well. But you beat me to it! I'll send my address in an email.

As for whats going in my kit (when it gets here) I was thinking a few Vaseline cotton balls and a couple of hooks. I was also toying with the alternate idea of trying to fit a sheet of aluminum foil and some iodine/chlorine tabs in it. Gotta wait til it gets here I suppose. Sounds like they are going out fast so maybe tomorrow:)
