RAT For Urban Survival?

Unfortunately, in a city, concealment often overrides utility.

To have a knife readily available and yet concealed will mean one of the smaller ones -- Izula, HEST or RC3. Depending on how you do it, the RC4 would be about as big as you'd want to go.

For B&E (that's Breaking and Exiting ya mongrels!) a prybar would be nice, but the po-po don't like it when they find them in your bag. A pair of work gloves and a framing hammer work just as good and are more explainable.

RC-3 combined with a good multitool and a Stanley Wonderbar. That'll do everything you need in the city.

In my GHB I carry an RC-5, original Leatherman and a Wonderbar, among many other things. I don't think this combo is all you'd need, but it'll get a lot of jobs done in an urban setting.

In urban settings, staying as inconspicuous as possible is a big advantage, so I'd probably take an Izula or HEST over one of the bigger knives

I live in the city not downtown but on the border of dearborn-detroit all of the time I edc Izula front pocket, most of the time HEST in back pocket or inside coat pocket RC-3 clipped to jeans small of back some times two RC-3s clipped to jeans one to the left one to the right. and that it is winter I've been edc RC-5 as well, left hipp coat covers it.not allways in that order and some where a SOG powerlock.

knifes are not for prying. There is a tool made for that though it's called a pry bar and there are some real nice ones out there. But for the question at hand I like the RC-3mil I carry mine with me all day every day. Its just the right size for what I need it for

RC4 is my EDC everyday around town. Horizontal across the back. Abggy sweater, shirt or jacket keeps it out of site. The sme could probably be done with the RC5 in the new sheath. Haven't been able to try that out as mine came in the eagle sheath.

+1 on the pry bar, but I have known a couple bona fide carpenters who were actualy arrested for possesion of burglary tools due to their having them in the trunk of their car, and that was even with the tool belts and other equipment in the trunk. There are some real jackass cops out there.

RC4...... I think that if you are in an ''urban survival'' situation...... as in emergency or SHTF situation, concealement might not be such a big issue.....
