RAT + gear (Here lies great links)

The E2e, and I have owned two of them and carried Sure-Fires for years on and off the job going back to 90 or 91, was the pinnacle of personal flashlights.

I'm carrying a couple Fenix lights now. Two AA batts give you 100+ lumens and I don't have to put two 7.00 a piece batts in it and don't have to look for them in stores or order them online, I'm happy.

The E2 series are more compact, just as bright, and run 25% longer than the 6P, G2, Z2 and similar lights.

But you are paying way too much for CR123A batteries. Ordering online is not so hard to do, especially at under $2 each.

I now carry a Fenix L2D. Turbo setting gives me 180 lumens and the AA batteries just go on and on.

Haven't seen this after looking through this thread but these guys make the best phone cases and their other products are amazing as well. Their customer service and the way they back their warranties is second to none.

Looking to blow some of your christmas money on some cool gear, here's some helpful links.

Yes it's a zombie thread, yes I know how old it is, I resurrected it from the depths to be helpful, so please no whining.

this thread rules. I cant stop coming back to it and clicking on links. my bookmarks folder is getting mighty mighty full

The first page is very sad, being that Jeff listed Pentagon light as one of his favorites back in 2009. It's a shame they were put out of business. And although that event put a bad taste in my mouth, I still buy Surefire almost exclusively despite their business practices in that particular circumstance.

The Pentagonlight customer service was great when I had to return a defective MOLLE light..fast as hell, and they threw in two Pentagonlight shirts:thumbup:

It was kind of discouraging to see the company basically evaporate.

Coming into this a little late but I thought I'd throw in a couple cents.

I but CR123 batteries through BatteryJunction.com. They're $1 a piece and can be purchased shrink-wrapped in doubles which is handy for two-cell lights.

I completely agree that Surefire lights are expensive, but I still think they're good lights and you can buy them used for much less than retail. I carry and use E2DL every day... that thing is a champ. Crazy-bright on high and a long running low. They also have some new lower-priced offerings that are getting good reviews.

For those of you that use headlamps: Zebralight.com. If you can get past the dork factor, the utility is unbeatable.

A note on Maxpedition stuff: When I was looking at their bags, someone recommended finding the bag (size) you think you need then buy the next larger size... that advice served me well.

Nice link for the batteries. I just bought a new flashlight that uses them and didn't buy any extra batteries for it!

This is a good part of my every day wear / carry whether I'm in town or in the wilds.

I'm far on the train of carhartt, but I'll another one to say: awesome stuff.

also some good ones:

http://www.benelliusa.com/ I have the SuperSport, never a misfire.
http://www.fnherstal.com/ My dad owns a Five SenveN tactical (superb pistol), but I would still probably prefer Glock.
http://www.surefire.com/ Worth mentioning again. I remember reading an article where a police officer was shot in the line of duty,
the bullet hit center mass, he fired and immobilized the convict, but thought he was going to die. Then reached into his pocket and pulled out his surefire, with a huge dent in it... saved his life... and still worked!
http://www.magnumresearch.com/products.asp The BFR is a solid revolver, we always keep it handy on the farm. It fires .45 long colt also can shoot 410 shotgun cartages, I don't know if all 45 long colts can do that but I thought it was pretty cool!
