RAT owners and EDC's

I don't have any RAT's yet, hopefully that will change pretty soon. Here is my EDC, that I got from work the first of the year. It's a 5.11 Ten Eight, 154CM blade and G10 handles.

My EDC is a yellow, plain-edged Pacific Salt from Spyderco, plus whatever slip joint I want to carry that day. Add to that a wallet, keys with a pair of field tweezers, and my cell, and I'm good to go.

Yep it's the Dragonfly. Great little knife, I just wish it had the detachable metal clip instead of the integrated FRN clip.

Here's a shot with the blades opened:

Thanks! I just put up a Mazzouli Officina Pen in the trade forum looking for a Maxpedition Passport/Traveler Wallet and a Spyderco Dragonfly...or other interesting things...

My current EDC is a leatherman charge along with either my Izula (OD), Zero Tolerance 302, or Spyderco Pacific Salt. My hiking/ woods adventure (which is about 4x a week) is a Bravo 1 on belt, Izula on sternum strap (of the pack of the day), and the leatherman charge.

My Dear Friends,

The EDC that is carried on my person varies very little. For some years now it has been an Emerson Combat Karambit carried blade forward in the right front pocket and a Spyderco stainless Cricket PE in the watch pocket of my jeans.

For beach carry en vacances it is always a yellow FRN Spyderco Tasman Salt PE.

The EDC that travels with me in my bag is a different story. :D I am currently carrying an LR Harner wharnie necker, a CKE "Beast" Bushcraft Knife, a black RAT Izula (#0171 for those interested), and a Spyderco Bill Moran FB-01, as well as a Victorinox Cybertool 34 and the aforementioned Spyderco Tasman Salt clipped to the outside of the bag.

There is also an Emerson Karambit Trainer in the bag in case I get bored.

There might be one of two more in there, but that hits the high spots. Can you tell that I live and work in a very knife-friendly area? :D

I am about to rotate my RAT RC-4 back into the bag for the summer, and am giving consideration to carrying the Izula on my person daily to see how it works out. I am still amazed at that little knife - it shaved hair from the back of my arm the day I got it, and still will.

Victorinox Climber SAK in l/f pants pocket. I rotate one of many folders clipped to r/f pocket. RAT Folder in EDC gear bag along with an OLD SOG multitool. I'll also often carry my Izula clipped IWB around the house and in town.

I have a few benchmades and a few spydies, though I feel that the fit and finish on the BM's is nicer than most of the spydies, you really cant beat the functionality of a spyderco. Really you cant beat an endura or a delica for the money. I have been edc'ing a digtal camo paramilitary for a couple months and it is absolutely superb. I have larger sized mitts so the big handle is a welcomed thing especially paired with a not huge as hell blade. good stuff.

I EDC a Case swayback jack and Izula in my right front pocket. In my back right pocket I carry either my blue zdp delica or my BM 530.

On my backpack I have an RC-3 on the shoulder strap, the RC-6 tucked behind the small of the back in a slash pocket, a Boker wharcom clipped through a loop of the molle webbing, an Opinel No. 8 carbon in a tube sheath on the backside of the strap, and then inside it I have a CS K4 necker as a mini chef's knife (to go with my mini Epicurean cutting board) and the blade on my Vic. Swiss Spirit. Possibly a little over-knifed but each one comes in handy for different stuff and I can carry it all comfortably, so why not? :D

No such thing Brother:thumbup:
For me, a RC3MIL on the left and a XD45 on the right. Izula on the strap on my EDC Maxped Sitka and a RC5 inside the bag. I can't leave the house w/o a larger knife...

Here's my EDC selection. RAT Izula and a Boker Plus Hyper folder on my person; RC-3 in my ruck.

I still carry my Spyderco Police. It's so thin I forget it's in my pocket.

I've been known to carry a Kabar USMC in my boot when I go to Dallas.

I have several floding knives, but my orange Griptilian has become my default EDC folder. I often also carry a SAK or other slipjoint with it.

For a few years I've experimented with carrying a fixed blade for my EDC. I've tried a number of small fixed blades, but found they weren't suited either because of the design of the knife, or the sheath, or both.

That was before I got my RAT-3, which has the qualities I'm looking for in a knife, and has a sheath which is excellent for discreet carry. Using the supplied paracord for belt carry keeps the knife close to the body with minimum bulk. The RAT-3 doesn't print when worn under a baggy short. Even if it did print, it would easily pass for a cell phone.

I also sometimes wear my Izula as a neck knife or in my right front pocket.

These RATs are becoming my EDCs more than my folders.
