It's black canvas micarta on black blade, the black canvas micarta doesn't look black but it become black when wet or used.

Actually, the HRLM in my pix is Tanker Grey with the black canvas micarta.

Just pulled the trigger! RMD and HRLM Black Blade and Black Paper! Man I love Black Paper!

Couldn't resist -- just added a Moss Warden to go with the Tan/Moss RMD.

Decided that I don't foresee any knife fights in the near future so I skipped the regulator deal and went for 2 wardens and of course another howler (actually it will be my 10th, all of them different). I always wanted a tan micarta one.

How does it look on sheaths for the wardens, who makes nice ones.

Got a moss warden and sage warden coming. Gonna give one to my brother. He'll probably say "What's this?".

1st post - 1st order placed for a SRKW....
1x RatManDu tanker with black paper.
I'm eager to get my feet wet on this... good bunch of people here and perfect timing on getting in on a classic release!

Hi All,

These Ratganza knives are advertised as "through hardened".

Were the older Howling Rats and Ratmandus also through hardened or differentially tempered like other Swamp Rat blades?

Thanks.

It's my understanding any Swamp Rat knife under the 7" mark is through hardened.......I've been wrong before though.:D

For some reason I want to think that the M6 is differentially hardened. I really don't know thought. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Generally speaking Rat's over 6" in blade length are differentially tempered. The only exception I can think of is the black/tan BR which was through hardened.
M6 was differentially tempered.
