RC-5 for combat purpose?

Don't get me wrong here. I carry a five. There are photos of it in a recent thread about the pouches. But it's not my only knife. I don't think I'd like it as my only knife. The five feels good in the hand. The six has the same handle, and feels just as good, with the added benefit of feeling like it's not even there.

does your RC-5 cut well in your opinion?because you dont want it to be your only knife.

or is that more of a collectors thing.more = better :D

I've got it decently sharp. If it didn't cut, I wouldn't carry it. But the thickness of the blade is slower. It won't penetrate wood as deep chopping, it's like fatter snow skis are slower. The material being cut has to be pushed further away to get the knife through it. Drop the six and five into card board with the same force, the six goes deeper, every time. For an all around camp knife, I've got to say I love the six.

The six slicing some curlies, the 5 doesnt do this as easily:

Wood all batoned by RC6 (izula and rat fire kit):

beautiful pictures man :) very very nice .

and a beautiful woman too ;) (YOUR woman I assume ?:))

that AXE collection looks also good.yours?

the Buck Kalinga pro is a knife I also had.very sharp blade ,the Kalinga with the wooden handle is by the way also a nice knife to have.

are those your friends, holding their middle fingers up high ?hehe

that pick with you on the bridge with the snow and valley in the background is also very beautiful.

you got a good on eye beauty I have to say.

and ofcourse the RAT collection also.
very nice pics...

the bear bag by the way..
what kind of bears do walk around in that area?

thank you for the compliments.

Woman's my sister, a dancer :)

Axe's are mine, some from my grandfather

fingers are myself and my brother, was a long day.

kalinga I like. I've considered the wooden version, but I'm lazy and hate brass.

Bear bag- Black bear. yea it's too low but we looked at it, decided it was far enough away that we wouldnt be in danger, and decided to risk it. Black bear don't generally come around humans on purpose anyways. We did walk into two in the rain while hiking out though. and I mean almost literally. that was cool

your sister?ok .wow .she's a beauty.I noticed the ballet shoes yes.
and her poses which were obviously showing her dancing abilities .

the axes are part from your grandfather..steel lasts forever,it seems, if taken care of it a bit.

your brother is the guy on the right .he looks a bit as the singer of the band Rammstein ,Till Lindeman(meant as a compliment.that band is cool).well in that pic anyway :)

the brass on the Kalinga ,mwah ,its not bad.:obut if you dont like it ,you're right not to buy it.it aint my favourite either.but on 'that' knife I liked it.

walking into two Black Bears.wow.
now that's an experience.
beautiful animals ....

Love rammstien, just got the new album :)

It was downpouring, and Shawn was leading, he stopped coming up a rise, pointed at it with his Kabar, and simply said 'bear'. Was about 15 feet away, and just as shocked to see us. He ran up a bit, and thats when we saw the second. they stood there and looked at us for about a minute, then lost interest and left.

Rammstein has many morbide lyrics.about power abuse ,incest(spiel mit mir) and all other kind of extremes .it has many beautiful dramatic songs and melodies."L'Amour" is also touching.
I think many of these songs comes from Till's 'disturbed childhood(my guess).he was abused by his father if I can believe what they say on Wikipedia.and Till himself said that an artist has his frustrations where his creativity come from.this was probably self explaining...

the new album is cool.very strong songs.as always ..I have bought it also.

black bears are normally not so aggressive aren't they.
I know there have been cases where they were.but that's with humans the same:rolleyes:
but still.

you never know with a bear.it's hard to read heir faces.
and I am no Timothy Treadwell who talks to bears.maybe it might help.
in your case it wasnt needed:p

When I was looking at the RC-5, I was thinking it to be more useful than the RC-3 and 4 when it comes to survival. Is the message here that the RC-6 does everything better than the 5?

The consensus seems to be that the 6 will do most things better than the 5.

Why not? Haha anything can be used in combat. The blade shape seems like would work great in this field.

I bought them both
the RC-5 and the RC-6 .

and I can tell that the RC-5 could defenitely be used for combat(no,I didn't test it on a person, nor do I plan to).
as most knives of a certain length.

it is a very tough blade.and sharp enough in all ways for combat.the length is also sufficient.
there might be better knives for combat.but this one is not one you want to 'absorb' into the body...

when holding it in the shop it was immediately clear.

this is a very tough tool.I recommend it.
and it slices paper easily :p

thanks for all the reactions people
