Here's my rant: I will never understand why snakes are such feared creatures. Non-poisonous ones especially. I don't even kill posionous ones around my house, instead I simply re-locate them since they are vital in keeping down other stuff that screws up your place worse than a snake will ever do. Around here you see dead non-poisonous snakes on the road all the time where someone physically stopped their car from going 60MPH down the road, backed up, and purposely skidded their tires on the snake to kill it. Freakin' amazing to me.
Another rant I have is around eher ANY snake someone sees in the water is immediately some monstrous posionous Copperhead or Cotton Mouth. Just about every time it's nothing mroe than a non-poisonous water snake with bright colors.
In the last Woodland Ops class one of the students stepped on a Copperhead during the nav portion. The snake didn't bite, luckily. Some folks wanted to kill it immediately. Instead we used it as a quick education class on the snake then let it go. We also found 3 Cotton Mouths in the water, real ones not some water snake, but let them be also.
I've heard and been part of all the horror stories about a Cotton Mouth trying to get in a boat and attack the folks inside. Bullshit. I've had them come up to the boat and try to get in also but it wasn't becasue they had their heart set on getting in the boat to bite the owners. It's natural curiosity for a snake to try and get in. Simply knock them away with a paddle and be done with it. People will hurt themselves over a snake when all the snake wants to do is be left alone.
Cool pics but why kill a non posionus snake?
did you see the size of the Rat that you cut out ? he was working in your favor & Keeps the Wife needing you too:thumbup:
Thats alot of ranting........when you seem pretty excited in this thread http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=735623
Not wanting to start anything just pointing things out....
And plus, they're delicious![]()
one was killed for food (although they didn't finish the whole thing) and the other was killed because it was a potential problem for the family, pets, etc...just my observation.
No problem with snakes here. My lady has a pet ball python named Pretzel. It's usually a moment of weekend entertainment when we feed her a mouse.
I'm a big fan of crows, too. It's always fun to watch them on really windy days when every other bird is staying safe at home. They do loops and barrel rolls and just laugh at the wind.![]()
only the young ones - over 6 or 7 years and you burn more calories chewing that the gluey barstard are worth. There are churches that would pay good money for that snake Dave! That looks like a great dancing snake.
I have a similar precaution, I shoot all the horses that come by my house. I just don’t trust them….they look shifty. And plus, they're delicious![]()
Crows are some of the smartest beasts on Earth. I'm fascinated by them and usually take a 400mm lens hunting rather than a rifled catridge. With that said, the bastards devastated my first field of corn so it's time to kill a few and leave them lay.
