RE: Portlandreign81 and a lesson learned

OK, but the transaction didn't take place on bladeforums. What is his feedback rating.....what has he done on the forums?? I thought outside transactions....while informative....didn't trump what was done on the forum?? I'm not a fan of the guy.....just trying to modulate the outside interference.

^ I for one, appreciate the OP informing BF's regarding one of it's member's unethical business practices...

but if this transaction occurred on a different site, the OP shouldn't have left a negative iTrader feedback score for this transaction. He should've just posted this GBU thread.

Edit:
The point being: if I were to have a poor transaction with a member over on the JD (who also happens to be a member here): I don't post a negative iTrader feedback rating, over here on BF's.

At the least, I'd agree with this. Where does this forum draw the line.....and I ask, 'cause I just don't see where the black and white line is?? While I appreciate the heads-up....what separates good from bad extraneous information??

Perhaps a mod can clarify; but I sure hope that the "rules" allow for the OP giving us all a heads up about a member here - even if the transaction happened on another site. I would guess they do, as there have always been threads similar to this one. thanks OP.

I hope so, as I agree.....just don't want anyone to cross-polinate the forums.....probably the wrong analogy, but there you have it:)

It is perfectly fine to post this about a transaction that went bad on another site.

It's happened many times that a seller was ripping people off someplace else while building a good guy rep here; till they decided to start ripping people off here.

I don't understand is you feel the OP has broken a forum rule posting this or if you feel it is "bad form" making the post. Can you clear that up for me?

I think I was pretty clear that I didn't KNOW if the OP had broken some forum rule. Also, didn't know if this is BAD form.......I apologize, as I thought I made that clear.

Thanks for the post. I thought I had read previous MOD input that you only post on a transaction that happened on the forum. If I'm wrong......my apologies.

To All,

I apologize if it seems I've hijacked this thread......as I look back on, I think I did.

If I may be so bold....the story here is nothing that happens on "another site" is something to be posted here. If you had a bad dealing with him on the forum....please post that. I've dealt with this guy on the forum and found him to be scummy......just not to the point of doing a deal with him. I'm not poo-pooing your information.......just know that "outside" dealings have a somewhat limited impact here.

Certainly wasn't clear to me. Thanks for clearing it up though.

I don't think you can leave itrader feedback for a transaction that did not happen here. The GB&U thread does seem warranted though.

Notice that you are the only one with a problem and keep expressing that misgiving although everyone here is OK with it. If you feel so strongly, report the OP and see what the Mods tell you. What you personally want it not the standard.

Why would I report the OP?? I've simply been asking what the correct protocol is?? I thought the idea behind the GBU was to give voice to these types of questions or issues?? I didn't realize that I should stop posting if my questions some how went against the conventional wisdom. If someone could point me in the right direction related to what is the correct protocol....that'd be great. I've apologized once......I guess that wasn't enough. I simply was unsure that the OP's original intent was correct......I assigned no nefarious purpose to his post. I also wasn't swaying the thread to my personal standard.....I don't even know what that should be?? Again guys, I apologize for being counter-culture here........though I have no idea what culture I'm running counter to.

AF1928 - give it up. This thread is legitimate and appreciated. We are not discussing i trader feedback here. We are discussing the conduct of one of our members and giving him an opportunity to have his side of the story heard should he choose. He has been made aware of the thread.

Let's stop hijacking and keep this thread on topic. If you want your questions/issue addressed, start a new thread.

You have been told repeatedly and elect to keep questioning. The OP was fine to post what he did. You were fine to question it -- once. The next twelve times were not, I respectfully suggest, fine. You may stop now or keep digging.

Thank you for the responses, I really don't see anything I disagree with. My reasoning for posting this was to vent and to alert members of another member's behavior (just a heads up). Normally I would have researched the seller previous to making a purchase of this magnitude and if I would have I would have seen a good and long standing member of this forum with good feedback (although there was a pre-existing bad mark). Many times I see good seller reviews on BF and use F&F. If I wasn't protected by using the proper means of payment I would be on the hook for more money than I can afford to lose. I do think GDU is where this "rant" belongs but I also agree that I probably shouldn't have left a seller review for something that didn't happen on this site. Although he did sell the knife on this site originally and it was satisfying to go back thru his IG and this form to put the puzzle together.

Wow, I missed that earlier. You did leave feedback here for a transaction that happened elsewhere? That is not good, at all. Spark doesn't put up with that kind of stuff.
