Reate Knives-Users' opinion and collections

Check out David's Instagram and look at the last 7 pictures. http://instagram.com/reateknives/

The C Model is essentially a combination of the Horizon and Hills models. Comes in with the Horizon size factor, Hills handles and a drop point blade with a nice fuller that accentuates the milling work of the handles. 3.75 inch blade.

One of the main attractions aside from the improved asthetic design is probably the multi-row bearing system. David has promised me the first one in the US (Right David? :D ), so you can expect a full HD review at some point in January. I want the one with the really dark handles, almost looks black but that could be the picture filter.

The addiction never ends...

You are right ! Auston !

MRBS means the Horizon C is going to be a must have for me! I love my District 9/D9 flippers. Been wanting a Horizon for awhile now, working on a trade for one as we speak.

I changed my mind in regards to acquiring a D9 model. Are there any chances of Reate making smaller knives, around 2.5"-3" in blade length in the future? Maybe with a deep carry pocket clip as well?

I have read this entire thread and am in the market to pull the trigger on one of these knives. (The Horizon B & Hills seem to be readily available at this time and I can pre-order the C)

For the people who have these knives…which one should I buy? My most consistent EDC is a Sebenza.

Thanks,

Brent

The hills is about identical in blade/ handle/ over all length as the large sebenza if that helps. That's the only model I have any experience with though.

I think my Reate is about as consistent as they come. Taken apart a bunch of times and it assebles exactly the same every time. Great tolerances etc.
Reate are very different than Sebenza in how they work and feel IMHO. I think better comparison is ZT, I think Reate is much easier flipper than ZT, or at least the ones I have tried.

Wish the C was stonewashed like the B, but it's still gorgeous.

For anyone on the fence between the Horizon and the Hills, here's my Horizon and AustonH's Hills together.

He's been letting me test-drive the Hills for the past week or so and I like it, but I prefer the Horizon.

Eagerly anticipating the Horizon-C with M390 blade (Horizon-D?) and other changes that sets it apart like the difference between Horizon-A & Horizon-B.

Also, a little down the road, your first flipper with a just under 3 inch blade!

Keep up a steady stream of models and high-quality work!

Thank you for your support Ramzar. Yes, the 2015 horizon M390 version will not be identical to the Horizon A , Thanks !

Hi, David!

I just picked up a D9 from a fellow forumite.

I have a question -- some D9s I've seen have the flat stamped clip, and some others have the very nice solid milled clip.

What's the difference? Is the milled clip newer or was it a limited edition?

Too bad mine is the stamped clip; the mounting holes are in different places so I won't be able to put the milled clip on it.

Also, if you would make the D9-A in a 3" to 3.25" blade I would buy one direct from you immediately. :)

Thank you!

We improved the clip for the second batch of the D9, that why you see 2 versions.

I finally had time to get the Horizon C review done this evening/early morning. Here are a few pictures for size comparison, as well as the Video in HD.

Thanks. Just got the hills and couldn't be more happy with it. The fit and finish was superb and now the only decision I have is what Reate knife to get next!!
