Received today: ZT 0566

That looks very well done and not rushed in the design process. Usually the lock bar cutouts on steel framelocks have a big gap. Might get this one too.

Damn, that is one nice looking knife. I didn't get in on any pre-orders so I'm sure I'll have to wait a few months for the initial frenzy to die down. Eh, at least it will give me time to save some more cash! Anyways, great pics Ruudr! Enjoy her

Thanks for the pics and review. Seems like I've been waiting a very long time for this one. Hopefully not much longer!

It should be easy to pull the torsion bar. From the pictures, it has a ball detent, so the blade should stay closed under pressure from the lockbar.

I want to hear about what happens the first time somebody takes one apart.

I had a Needs Work, with the same arrangement on the female side of the pivot, and when I tried to remove the pivot pin, it rotated in the hole, making it impossible to take the knife apart: not good.

I was using it as a work knife, and those get dusty, crusty, nasty, and need some occasional maintenance.

I've been looking at the '566 for a while, but if I can't field strip it, it's a no-go.

Already someone who took the torsion bar out? :friendly_wink:

The knife will deploy without the torsion bar, it might take a little practice to develop the technique though. It will work like a 0200 or 1760, or other, non-KVTM manual flipper. It won't be as easy to open as a spring assisted knife, you'll have to apply force to the flipper in the right direction and possibly with a slight roll of the wrist, but it will open without the torsion bar and without a wrist flick.

I don't have a picture side by side, but the size is surprisingly close to the 0550, the handle and blade are narrower but the lengths are very close to the same.

The 0566 is almost exactly the same length as the 0350, but much more slender, about 1/4" shorter than the 0550 overall and again more slender. It's very similar to a Benchmade 551 in size and shape, but a bit heaver and with a thinner handle. Both the 0350 and 0566 have been de-assisted and open just fine with the flipper both do have a slight amount of side to side, but so does the Benchmade 551.

I really like the black pocket clip on it. Too bad it has side by side screws instead of the screws on top of eachother because that black clip would look sweet on my 0550blk I just bought moments ago... But I digress.

Nice comparison pic!

Now that you have had the 566 for a few days, anything to report? How is it? Still awesome?

i'd like one custom made without the assisted opening, or just make a bunch of them without the assisted opening for people who want it.

The fact that I still have it in my pocket says enough.:D I really like the knife. The pocket clip is kind of stiff though.
