I also like the assisted opening. But I am also curious how the knife will be whithout the spring.

There are several reasons why many prefer manual. For me, one of note is that I like to be in control of the blade at all times. I think that opening it manually just as fast as an assisted knife is fun too ;)

Add: Here's from an old post of mine I dug up...

It is just a matter of preference. I like being in control of the blade at all times. A good manual folder deploys just as fast as an A/O, and is easier to close also, no need to fight the mechanism to close it. There are times when deploying a blade slowly is best especially when your out on the town. Simplicity to me in this case is also best, less mechanisms to depend on for a chance to fail.

Although I prefer manual, I can appreciate a good assist and Kershaw makes plenty of them. Own a few, they're cool to play with and edc.

The 0566 is almost exactly the same length as the 0350, but much more slender, about 1/4" shorter than the 0550 overall and again more slender. It's very similar to a Benchmade 551 in size and shape, but a bit heaver and with a thinner handle. Both the 0350 and 0566 have been de-assisted and open just fine with the flipper both do have a slight amount of side to side, but so does the Benchmade 551.

Looks like it is the perfect EDC size to me, with no re-curve! thanks KAI for listening to your customers! I have 2 coming. Can't wait.

I also like the fact that this is a regular production piece and will be able to get it for a long time

Anybody know why they started delivering the 0566 overseas before satisfying the customers in the US? It's a pity. I'm living in Europe and pre-ordered my 0566 in the US...

Kai had mentioned that they went overseas first in order to compensate for shipping times. A shipment will take longer to get from Oregon to Germany than, let's say, Oregon to Texas. They are trying their best to have them released everywhere around the same time. I'm sure it will only be another couple of weeks before the states get 'em in. I totally understand your anticipation, though. Kai makes killer knives!
 
So can anyone confirm whether or not these have a detent hole in the blade?
 
Awesome! This is the knife I've been waiting for all year (actually, since it was announced - whenever that was!). Thanks for the post and pics. I'm pretty sure this will replace my PM2, Caly3, Caly3.5 and Cryo as my main EDC. It's got the size of the PM2 but with the stouter blade of the Cryo.
 
Sweet once the US has them in stores Canada won't be far behind. I can't wait
 
I would really like to see a pic of the 0566 next to a Cryo 2 and a Thermite. All three midsize Hnderer's together.
 
Love to get one, unfortunately they are out of stock at knivesandtools.nl. Looks like you are that lucky guy that have one.

Cant wait for another 2 months!:(
 
Looks like ZT has a winner here. I hope they released black and tiger striped versions as well with different color scales. :D
