It feels perfect it hand and in pocket. G10 is grippy, but doesn't eat your hand when you reach in your pocket. The blade is about the thickness of one on the 0350. You can't really compare the 0801 to it has they're totally different beasts. One is full Ti, then the other is G10 & steel.. But I do like them the same. And would picture the 0566 more of a workhorse. And it's gonna fly off shelves..

Just want to set my expectations some. He's great to deal with I have no worries but I am looking forward to this knife.

I was just trying to get an idea of size compared to the 0801 since I've handled the 0801. Also, my comment about looks was in terms of their lines. The 0801 has a more flowing elegance whereas the 0566 handle gives it more of an industrial or rugged toughness.
 
For those who have one, does anyone else think the gimping on the lock bar is too rounded? It seems a bit slippery to me when I disengage the lock. I know it is nit picking.
 
Yeah I can see that. Not a problem for me being a southpaw, but it's harder when I try with my right hand.
 
The 0566 is awesome. It is a great size for EDC. It is slim and carries in pocket well, and it still has a good solid, beefy feel. I'm quite liking mine so far.

Has the 0566 been released in the US yet? There still aren't pre-orders on GPKnives and yet Knife-Center has preorders and people are saying they've already gotten it, I'm so confused :confused:
 
It appears that they (KAI), are shipping really low numbers to different dealers in the USA to fill pre-orders. Example, BHQ has 300 preorders, they got 10 566's in. It will be awhile apparently before pre-orders are filled at this rate. We just have to be patient.
 
Here's a shot of the 0566, 0550, and 0560. The 0566 is the same length (closed and open) as the 0550, but the 0566 is about 45% thinner (the 0566 is about 0.31" thick, and the 0550 around 0.56"). If somebody else doesn't have some side-by-side pics of them open, I'll take a few later tonight.

Received my 0566 today. This is a home run from ZT. Perfect size. I don't mind the stainless steel, it gives it heft (not heavy, just hefty) and keeps the price reasonable.

I love my 0550, but the 0566 is the best designed and executed ZT knife I've ever handled. The 0560 was always too big in my opinion, and the 0550 too fat.
