Recommend me a Busse Knives

My .02 worth from my EXPERIENCE:
Satin Jack AND any type Mean Street is more than good enough for any arid region

ASH/ SHBM for forested and jungle terrain is fantastic

Again, this is only based on my EXPERIENCE so YMMV

The CGFBM is a great knife, but I think it would be too heavy and slow to be considered a fighter

My vote is with with
-HR
-ASH1 (skinny or LE)
-Satin jack

I'm sure there is more but I can comment on these as I have them.

Edit to add: I did not include the Batac because I reckon the blade is a bit short for this intended use.

Yeah, like I said, everyone jumped on the Hellrazor, so I went a different way.
I think my preference for the HR as a fighter is well known. BUT, "combat" may include ripping open a door, storage area, etc, and a longer knife like the BM has a distinct advantage in dismantling structures.

If he only wants one, against meat, his bayonet in hand will do fine, but is useless in harder demolitions.

Just a thought.

But recommending a SHBM is off limits.

I sent a SJTAC to my brother-in-law in Iraq and he loved it.
But with that said I think a BATAC, or HR, or JH. If you could find one of these on the exchange

Good luck which ever way you go, you wont be disappointed.

Well, if he really means "price no object", then I guess not. But one thing we have heard from those who have served, is that large/long knives are frowned upon by the higher-ups. It would be a shame to take a Mistress over there, and be told to keep it in your locker.

We need to hear more from those who have been there.

Echer123, if you are active duty, call the shop. They have certainly heard from the field what works, and could hook you up.

I recomment the Mother Of All Silent Knights. It is just about the perfect EDC.

Maybe I missed something... but I never heard the OP say he was in the military. Although he did ask what knife would be good for "combat", so I see how you could have come to that conclusion. Having or wanting a knife that would perform well in combat doesn't automatically make one a soldier. If he is in the military and needs a knife for combat, then I agree, a SHBM isn't a great choice, too big I'm afraid.

And since price is no object, we are assuming the OP is in the military, and he wants to know what knives we lust over, I'd have to throw the Satin Jack (original) out there, they have always looked perfect to me. I'd also recommend the Sarsquatch, Batac, Meaner Street, and Skinny Ash which are all on the more affordable side of the spectrum, and are all knives I have had some hands on time with, and like very much. The Sarsquatch being my preferred choice of the four...:D

Get you a SFNO LE while they can still be had at a good price!

You won't regret it.

Yeah, Ken has a great suggestion..

SFNO LE, which are on the market right now...

Also consider:
BATACs, Custom to LE to CG, can't go wrong at all
SAR4 is one hell of a knife for it's size

If you want to chop too, maybe the FBMs in various configurations or the Mofo lineup (which don't come up too often but are probably the most under rated Busse knife).

Just MHO...

Well I came to Busse for a similar reason....originally just wanting a replacement belt kit knife and then the "bug" got me....so I now have a bit of a collection and many of them work well....but advice sort of needs more info as to what you want to use the knife for?

My favourites are :

Chopping ability and still light enough to carry on belt kit : Basic 9, FSH, NMSFNO, SFNO LE.

No need to chop and wanting a general purpose knife : Jackhammer, SJTAC, 3B2, Skinny Ash, SAR4 LE.

Smaller and lighter and able to be carried inverted on a webbing shoulder strap:
Ratmandu. This last one is a Swamp Rat knife but still part of the Bussekin family and SR101 is still a great steel for a knife this size.

I have all of the above.....sad I know....plus some other bigger knives....and they are all great options.

If I had to pick one....well it depends on a need for chopping....if you throw that in as a "need" I like the Basic 9....old school perfection with a comfy Res C grip.

Had a SHBM on my LBV for years. That was before it had to be called a SHBM;)
I had very few problems with higher ups at the time because we weren't doing stupid human tricks with knives or other tools. Back then if you screwed up you got treated like a man instead of a little boy and were counseled accordingly.

Sounds like You my friend need is a Busse HACK!!!! A great knife for the real close up wet works. It is what all the bad a$$ seal and such are using these days!!!

If money is NO issue then go with the BARF!!! They come in three sizes for a mean, meaner, meanest... mission approach!

:D:eek::D Wish we could use some of the emoticons from another site here!!

Lemme ask you a question or two, as it would help with recommendations:

1. DO you plan to use it in combat? i.e., are you serving and need a good knife at your side?
2. Are you just looking for a quality knife, you plan to use it, but not in a combat situation?

This determination would probably change the suggestions depending on which role the knife will play. :)

I believe I already answered this on the first page.

I'm sorry again. I am not in the military, however I do not want a gigantic knife. Anything below 7 inches is fine.

If you change that to "7 inches or under", I'll whole heartedly recommend the Hellrazor. It's right at 7 inches.
