Recommend me a Mora

All this Mora-loving!..... geez Louise, I can't wait to get my Moras! I won't beat the Pelosi out of them but .... they're so cheap I could always get another pair. :D

I went cheap and purchased the viking for 7 dollars. Its a cutter. You should get one el cheapo .

For about 10 years now I've been using a number 1 with the laminated blade. The edge holding puts a lot of custom knives to shame. One great underestimated cutter.

Mora's are the Opinels of the fixed blades.

I like the 780 Tri-flex, it takes a great edge.

I'd 86 that cheap sheath and get/make a nice Kydex one for it. It deserves better. :)

Since Mora of Sweden was made by merging 2 companies I found out that Erkssons have longer tangs than Frosts.
I have only 2 Moras (860 and 511) but I must say, whatever knife you take, if they have 511 or 510 buy that one too, its ridiculously cheap an since its eriksson it has quite a long tang and nice long blade great for carving, and since the tang is about 3/4 you can baton with it quite nicely and it should hold. Moras are all awesome knives but 511 I love (5€ for a knife like that is really a ridiculous price)

I have a 510 that has impressed me much. I would like to try a couple of other models at some point.

The wooden handle one with a laminated blade , comes with an edge so sharp it cuts realty itself ( well almost)

I really like my M2K but the plain jane laminated mora is where its at. Edge holding on the high Rc 1095 is amazing and the simple round wood handle is surprisingly comfortable.

Laminated mora FTW

How do you like it? I've been looking at the GK for awhile now, but haven't pulled the trigger.
I actually like the Frosts ank KJ-s (MoS) better. It's not at bad knife, just not as good as the traditional Moras.

My special favo is the late 60:es Mora S1 with the Uddeholm UHB 2140 (Arne) laminated blade and red birchwood handle.

Here's my NIB 10 pcs in original box:

Wow. I have dreams just like this. I would be so happy to have that box I wouldn't be able to count them. I have one of those and it is, without a doubt, the sharpest knife I own or have ever owned. I have it stropped so sharp it really kind of scares me...but I love it.

You will not be disappointed, I love my Moras and it is hard to go wrong with any of them. Right now I'm thinking about picking up a Bushcraft Force.

I picked this up a couple months ago. Great little knife. Light. Easy to carry.
I have said this before, but the sheath is a cheap piece of plastic, but it's actually very functionable. Just clip on a pocket and go.

For the money you really can't go wrong.

I have to admit, got it because it wasn't that puke green or other crazy colors Moras come in (LOL)

I bought a HighQ Allround Stainless & Carbon from Ragnar for $11 & $10 - they look good, work good and have a reasonable tang length. I don't beat on them - I have my BK-7 or BK-9 for the chopping & batoning and similar hard use tasks. If I have my BK-9 + a Mora + a SAK then I consider myself well equipped. If the Mora + SAK cost less than forty bucks between them that doesn't make them inadequate for the task - it just makes them fantastic value.

For GOOD gear on a budget you can use a hatchet, axe or machete for the hard use (chopping, batoning & whatever), a Mora for the detail work like carving or whatever and a reasonably priced Victorinox SAK for opening bottles & cans and other tasks suited to the multi-tool. If the Mora doesn't have to handle hard use tasks then it should last for many years - for something that can be bought for under $20 including shipping, that is just too good a deal to pass up. If you lose or break your Mora then it doesn't break the bank to replace it.
