Don't forget our second hand shops: Salvation Army and Volunteers of America, as well as a whole bunch located along First and Second aAvenue in the 80's.
They take a bit of looking around to find things, but the bargains are definately there ifyou don't mind used gear.
Also, a vote for Tent & Trails (21 Park Place - right near City Hall and a short walk to great food in Chinatown!). A great little shop that has more clothing and gear than places 3 times the size, along with a very helpful staff.
