Recommendation for office carry

Obviously the correct choice for me is to dual wield a smatchet and junglas just in case I'm at work during the zombie apocalypse! Can't ever be too careful. >;)

+1 for the Classic (or any other SAK you like; personally, I would consider the Bantam as the best alternative to the Classic, for your requirements). For style, get the coloured alox ones; for use, if you think you might need the tweezers/toothpick, the Classic also comes in a wide variety of colours (while the Bantam doesn't).
+1 for the Peanut (or a 3" Barlow or Canoe).

THIS is what I bring to the office :D

They don't let me go there too much anymore (YEAH!)

Most SAKs and traditional slip-joints would be the best bet. I'd also highly recommend the Spyderco Kiwi 3 and Grasshopper slippies.

The Spyderco Dragonfly 2 is also a nice non-threatening one-hander available in a few different flavours... it is a fantastic little knife!

i carry a ss chive. i considered a mnandi but i rather not carry something that cost that. i just drop the knife in the pocket since i dont clip it i kinda worry about it falling out. plus its oin the same pocket with my keys so i doubt the wood would hold up well on the mnandi. and the last reason with the chive is the closed back. i dont have to worry about a key getting between the scales and dulling the blade.

Perhaps the OP can take a look at this one-handed Al Mar small folder, it's kind of pricey but it's less than 2 inches in blade length and pretty light.

It's hard to get any less intimidating than a SAK. I love my Case Swayback Jack though. It has a unique look and it's hard to get much brighter than this Cayenne bone.

Next to a single cell AAA light for size reference.

You want something that even the biggest safety ninny in your office won't view as a weapon, so rule out anything that can be construed as "tactical" looking, can be opened with one hand, or have any other features people associate with fighting knives they've seen in movies.

I've found that multi tools go over well in office environments that aren't knife friendly. I much prefer a dedicated blade, but I've gotten away with carrying a Leatherman in offices that had total knife bans (including the place I work now). Plus, the pliers and wire cutters have come in handy just as often as the blade.

If multi tools don't appeal to you (understandable), then I'll go along with the others who've suggested a small Case or a similar classic jack knife. They have a grandfatherly image and aren't generally thought of as weapons.

Traditional-style slipjoints don't ever seem to draw attention. Neither to SAKs. I suspect people are very familiar with them (which might actually be an argument for a classic red SAK), so they don't really give them a second thought. Problem is they have no clip, so they just fall to the bottom of your pocket.

For more modern-style folders, I like the Flash 1 for discrete carry (bayonet clip puts the entire knife below the top of your pocket) and non-intimidating blade (about 2.25", not very wide, and simple drop-point shape).

Multi-tools also seldom draw much attention, even if the blades on there are larger than some modern folders. They're too bulky and heavy for pocket carry, but if you don't mind strapping it to your belt, that could be an option as well.

William Henry makes a wide variety of handsome knives, many with some color too, and I would wager the only looks they will draw will be stares of envy. My two cents. :)

Hello guys, I am looking for a small knife for office carry. Preferably something that disappears in the pocket. Mainly just light box opening and opening packets. Something along the lines of a gentleman's knife that won't scare the sheeple. Bright colors help in this case and I do like colors as opposed to boring black. Prices can vary depending on how much I like it.

Thanks in advance.

spyderco ladybug 3, spyderco manbug, or spyderco bug
