Why? Marcinek thinks that im stupid and i teach wrong things to kids. WTF can I do for?

No. I think:

1) You haven't thought out this survival scenario of yours, and that is because you need to learn more about the skills/common sense specific to outdoor living/recreation. Everybody needed to learn about them at some point. So not stupid.../just have plenty to learn, just like everybody did.
2) You think one "wonder" knife is going to magically going to give you those skills. That's a common trap many, including myself, fall into. We wall want the totally awesome knife that we can kill a bear with, skin it, build a fire to cook it with, and fight off post apocalyptic zombies, looters, and terrorists. Its pure fantasy.
3) Based on what you have said on this thread, you have no right to be teaching kids knife safety. You are going to get one of those kids hurt as bad, or worse, than you hurt yourself. One teaches by example.

Get a SAK or multitool. Keep it with you at all times. When you are at your cabin, use the chainsaw or axe. Have a 4-5 inch fixed blade slicer there. And sharpening tools. Think about your plan realistically.

Yea thx for pushing me. I never created a shtf plan or somethin like that. But I probably will soon im just busy with school. Im trying my best, and trust me I dont teach these kids shit. In my cabin I got hatchets food and saws, thecabin is 9 km from my hometown. Not that far away. I will probably get a cold steel srk. It does the job when im using my mind. Today I learned much and it was a nice discussion. Please add me. Thank you for the tips.

Always good to have a contingency plan, and I do not mean one that contains zombies or the end of the world in any way. Rather what to do if the power is out, a cell tower that won't work, being hurt and alone while up a mountain during a hike, being overcome with a some sort of stomach flu or something, running a fever, etc. That is the kind of preparing that should be considered. Much more likely to happen than zombies, that will happen next weekend October 12 on AMC. ;)

Looking forward to it. :)

I don't know what to recommend for the OP. I can't tell if he wants a folder or a machete? How big should it be?

I suppose he could get a cold steel rajah 2. That is kind of like a folding machete.

You can do silly things with it. Like having three men baton it through some hardwood.

Hmmm. Somehow you are right. I shouldnt buy a knife. I should work with what I have. Im probably just goin to send the folder back to Buck let it repair and then threat it properly.

That's probably the best thing to do bucks warranty is simply the best they we'll fix it right up good as new.

As far as batoning with a folder I baton with pretty much all my folders and have no problems granted I don't recommend baton throw season hard wood in less you have a fixed blade that being said I have done that with my marksmen with no problems but I still don't recommend doing it.

As far as a good fixed if you still want one I'd recommend

Buck 119/120
Buck reaper
Buck intrepid
Buck hoodlums series
Buck CSAR-T fixed (that's a hard core hard use fixed blade)
Kabar Becker line
Buck bucklite or paklite

ZTD.

Unless the pin breaks or the pivot fails. Will it close on you?Probably not. Would I say it is impossible for it to close? Nope.

True. However, every folder will close at some point. By "never" I meant this one looks like it has the least chance (by far of any folder I've seen). Looking at the design I would think this knife would experience another type of failure before the ones you mention in terms of absolute extreme use (run over by a tank?). I wish someone at Blade HQ put it to the same test they did while comparing locking mechanisms.

I will be getting the RAO II as soon as (if) they produce the desert version. Is it good for EDC? Hell no! Is it the "foldable" hard use fixed blade out there? Yes it is.

Additionally: beware of fakes! Most YouTube videos out there (like the one where the guy is chopping concrete or the Russian one where the guy is chopping trees) show clone RAOs made in China. Not the same quality/durability.

To the OP lots of good info given to you, I was a scout leader many years ago and a basic lock back knife or small sheath knife was all that was needed. You use a knife to make other tools ie: wedge, spear, tent stakes, fire poker etc. we never taught batoning wood with a small folder, an axe was the appropriate tool. Never stabbed anything and certainly did not teach that. BTW where are you from and do you have adult supervision? What is this cabin that you have spoken about?
I'm glad you are interested in knives, however like Marcinek has pointed out the best survival tool is what is between the ears, good luck and best wishes.

I'll just list knives under both the folding and fixed blade category that wouldn't break from what you did.
Folding- Cold Steel Rajah 2, Cold Steel Pocket Bushman, Extrema Ratio RAO, Benchmade Adamas.
Fixed- Most thick carbon steel blades.

Either way, don't do that. There's no application where you need to baton, then stab wood. Unless you're fighting tree giants or something.

I'm not sure what knife I could recomment that I would have faith in, but the Buck Marksman doesn't inspire much confidence in me.

I have a Manix2 XL, ZT 0200, ZT 0561 and Benchmade 760. Each of these appears to be pretty tough to me. I've always said that if I was in a situation where it was very important for me to do something with a knife that the knife was not intended for, I would do it and hope that the knife held up. I don't know which of these 4 knives would do the best for that and it would be interesting to test them, but for now I just try to use them as knives.

A few years ago when I started buying folders again I started with a big CRKT M21. I bought a cheap one that was somewhat beat up, just so I could do some hard use testing on it. After playing with it I decided that I didn't have full confidence in its lock so I suspended testing until I can come up with enough protective gear that I would have confidence in. Oh and I have to find a spare car fender or hood to test it on.

I think a recon scout would be better, seeing its 1095 equivalent carbon steel (sk5). Very thick spine, kinda like a smaller trailmaster, which in my experience is incredible hard to Break even with serious abuse. Cold steels tri ad lock would also be hard to Break or damage but I wouldn't take chances with my fingers. Keep in mind boy scouts will not let you carry larger then a three inch blade if using it for that purpose.

Also keep in mind there is probably a blade length limit in your state. You might get by in the woods but I'd be in search of a smaller fixed blade for around town use.

What state do you live in?

Esee 5 for getting to from the cabin. uploadfromtaptalk1412670513101.jpg

I just want to clarify I didnt cut myself in front of the kids. I actually only wanted a knife suggestion and not this: OH THIS KID IS SO STUPID HE CUT HIMSELF BY KNIFE TESTING.... I didnt teach the kids wrong things, I teached them very basic things ( I didnt teach them to stab with a knife). And im not really into shtf and prepping, I was never in it. So now please I really want to know which kind of knife would be good for me. (fixed blade) Blade length: 8 inches or a bit less.
weighty that its a medium good chopper. The knife is ment for a more wildnerness type of scenario but too urban just wilderness has got the priority. Optionally a good kydex sheath, thats what I prefer, ( I could make one too by my one if needed). And an overall good looking knife. ( I dont really like Esees they seem to me little expensive) And it needs to hold up to abuse very well. I choose a fixed blade because I already have a good folding knife and machete.

Thanks for your help.
