Howdy there Gents,

I find myself wanting to change / upgrade my EDC blade. Currently I am carrying a small Buck Vantage Pro, but with the dymondwood handles from my avid. I like this little sucker but want something to rotate it with. I'm open to nearly any suggestions. I've been a knife guy for many years now and have carried many brands. My preferences are, Buck, Spyderco, CRKT, and Benchmade. Kershaw Is ok too though. I have carried one from all of these companies at one point or another. So, here are some requirements that I would need in a blade.

-Frame or linerlock
-One hand opening, thumbhole or flipper preferable
-Prefer tip up carry low rider clip
-Not a big fan of 8cr14mov or similar steel
-Prefer hollow ground blades but flexible
-Blade no longer than 3", I work in an office bldg and don't wanna scare people
-Non assisted opener,or assist is able to be removed
-Prefer something affordable in the $30-$150 range, Nothing over $200, I'll get around the a CRK one day but can't rationalize that kind of money right now.
-I dont like the spyderco delica, or the kershaw skyline, people always recommend those, I have owned both at one time or another and am not a fan at all.
-No FRN handle scales or all steel handles unless it is well treated and doesn't look all shiny or like plastic crap.

So, yeah there is the list, Some of those things I'm willing to budge on, some I'm not.

I'm trying to branch out and see what else is out there as far as options so. Suggest whatever you think would be good. I'm all ears people. thanks in advance.:):D

I actually love the look of that guy, it's too big though. If they had a 3" blade version I would have been sold the second I saw them come out. I just can't have a blade over 3", I want to keep my job, lol..

I had one of those for a long time, I liked it alright but wasn't a huge fan of the handle, It just felt like a chunk of plastic to me. It was a good knife that served me for years..

Spyderco Domino is scheduled to come out soon.(I heard next week) 3.13" blade might be a whisker too long though but hardly noticeable unless someone actually measures it.
And there's a popular vendor selling them for less than $200.

I admit the handles do feel cheap but they are very durable. You could put your keys in your pocket with it and it would still look brand new. What about the 15055 Bone Collector, there you can go with a wood handle or G10 Steel handle. Made of really nice D2 steel only about $130.

I've had my eye on that one for a bit. I wanna see what the reviewers say about it first just to make sure. It is on the radar though. I had a Sage for a while and liked it pretty well.

I've scoped those guys out a few times. They are pretty nice looking, a bit chunky though. I had a Lone wold swale for a while and liked the wood, but its pretty thick. I have bigger handled knives I carry hiking or just on the weekends. this one I'm looking for now would be kind of a all purpose edc but good to wear with khakis in the office too. Its gonna be a hard niche to fill, at least it feels like it.

I know you don't like the spring assisted ones but it's all i can think of lol. i think the Kershaw leek would be perfect though. It has a little big blade for you (exactly 3"), But it only weighs 3oz! It comes with a metallic or black plastic handle. about $80 with kershaw 14C28N steel, similar too s30V.

I agee, I like those guys. I actually have one with the green handle and black blade. I am a fan of Ken Onion Designs, It makes it into my pocket now and then. My Vantage beats it out in the frequency of carry though for some reason.

I have a new ripple 2 for when I feel like having a fancy knife with me.

the problem is that I have looked at damn near everything and still am not super jazzed about any one in particular. I'm gonna just have to design my own one of these days and have someone make it. Dang it!

i'd love a hollow ground drop point stone washed blade with a thumbhole, flipper, framelock deep carry tip up pocket clip with a polished deep burgundy micarta handle. But, that doesnt seem to exist in a 3" or slightly smaller blade size. Bummerness!

I was looking at the Enzo Birk 75 a while back and kinda liked the look of those, not a whole lot of reviews on them though

The Birk is a GREAT knife. I had a Scandi ground D2 model with bolsterless CF and it was a great knife, and one of the sharpest blades I've ever received. I ended up getting rid of it simply because it was the wrong size for me. A little bigger and it would be perfect for me. The lack of reviews is simply because they are hard to come by. I've never heard anyone that owned one gripe about them.

I've been looking at that one too. I'm not sure about the leaf shaped design. Though, I do really like the Bob Lum chinese Folder.

I actually own a Benchmade Mini Dejavoo but it's too big for my office environment. I love it though. for some reason i prefer the shape of blade that A Buck vantage has, or something like a Sebenza. I'm not a huge fan of the really wide blade, makes me think of a paddle or something.

How is it for EDC? I was thinking of getting the contoured G10 version. I like the scandi grind on it and the 2 videos on youtube seem to give it some pretty good praise.

I am more into the bushcraft sort of mind set over the tactical stuff. I'm more of a backpacker and hunter than a military sort of guy. Hence the preference of a drop point hollow grind.
