Hello,

What are some recommendations for a Leatherman Tool? Just for general all around use.

Thanks.

Mark T.

You might try your question over in the Multi Tool section, Mark.

What are your needs? I have pick out a multi-tool most days like my wife picks out shoes;)

However, my go-to do it all is the Rebar. They can be had for under 50 bucks, good tool selection, and they are big enough to do most jobs yet small enough to wear on your belt all day without pulling down your pants.

If you want something with a one handed blade, check out the Wave. If you want something more pocket friendly, check out the skeletool. I am also a fan of the MUT. It's a big strong tool geared toward shooting sports, but i've used most every tool on it for something that didn't revolver around range time.

I second the rebar, looks like one of the best to me. I have a fuse myself, but they are discontinued. I find a lot of folks using a juice, because most of the time if youre working with something that needs more plier power, you (should) have a pair handy.

I would say that the Wave or Juice line (pocket carry) may fit the all around role.

You may want to explore the Victorinox Spirit as well.

There are so many good choices!

I carry a Juice CS4 in a custom pouch on my belt most everyday and have done so for 3 years. Highly recommended. I sometimes go with an older SOG powerlock or a Wave but those are often too big for what I need (mostly the pliers).

I have a Wave and I love it. All the tools I could need and a size that easy to use and carry.

Charge Tti is currently at the top of the game in the multitool market I think.

Juice and Squirt are also up there in their respective categories.

I know you said general all around use but is it all the time use for a wide variety of things or just once in a while most general type? If once in a while most general type use, I would recommend the skeletool. It has most of the basics that can come up with from time to time. If frequent use for a wide variety of things, I'd recommend the Wave coupled with the screwdriver bit accessory and the screwdriver extension and you'd be all set for just about anything that may come up.

I have a skeletool in my range bag and I have duplicates of the wave set up in my go bags, cars, and desks.

The wave is probably the best all-rounder, but the rebar would be my choice for value. Really you won't go wrong with any of them, as long as you use them within their limits, for example, don't go wiring together a driveway worth a rebar with a juice.

For edc I always have a Leatherman Skeletool clipped to my belt. As a general contractor I use 10-20 times a day yet dont even notice it's there.

For backpacking and extended field use I would go with a larger more traditional multitool...I like leathermam the best and some above me have recommended great options.

Leatherman Wingman: spring loaded pliers, great scissors, big enough to use but not too big to carry, and a sweet pocket clip.

Best for EDC and won't break the bank.

Leatherman Skeletool CX Multi Tool (7-in-1). It's light with a 154CM steel for the primary blade. Add the 24 piece bit kit.

Wave or SuperTool. But Victorinox (and others) also makes some great MT's, so don't just limit yourself to one brand.

My choice has been the Vic Spirit. I think Vic makes a better multi-tool. I think you need to ask yourself the question about usage. I find that I don't carry the Vic unless I know I'm going to use it. Hence, I just got at Leatherman Squirt PS4 which I'll carry. If I need more strength, I can always go outside and grab my Vic or SOG, or simply get some appropriate tools.

I keep the charge ti in my truck, super tool 300 with my fishing or hunting gear, and my surge goes with me to work. If i had to choose one it would be the surge, if I didn't need something heavy duty for work it would be the charge. if you work in an office get the charge.
