Recon 1, in MagnaCut

When Magnacut was first coming out, Larrin said it should cost about the same as other powdered metallurgy steels. My comment was that the knifemakers would take advantage of it and charge us more. And, here we are. Watch what happens when MagnaMax hits and catches on.

I keep trying to make the mental leap that maybe it's the extra costs I'm oblivious to in the background. Like how I know there's something to you need MagnaCut only belts or you get some kind of cross contamination rust. So maybe having to tie up a whole line just for MagnaCut drives up the price?

Sure, there are behind the scene costs that can be different from softer steels or steels with lower carbide volume. Costs should be similar to peer steels as far as I can tell. Demand drives prices up and the makers say "why leave money on the table?"

I’ll tell you why not to arbitrarily gouge your customers just because you can: because you’re actually part of the community and want to be known for caring about the people you serve. Just a thought.
