Redmeadow pics that need a home

That package turned out beautifully John. I love what you did with the handle shaping. Just such a classy looking and practical working man’s (or woman’s) knife.

I am definitely interested when this one becomes available.

Phil
Thanks Phil, I'm really surprised how much traction the faceted shape gives, we'll see more of this style.

Here's a better shot of a Scout, I'm trying to make a video of this before I send it out. You can make a drinking game out of it for every time I say "uh" 😁

Picked up a 3' slab of Wenge yesterday in the big city. Went to a store that carries a lot of exotic woods and couldn't pass this up. Going to try some scorched textures on some handles, Roy brought it up the other day when looking at some walnut scales. This piece looked like a good candidate for some experimenting, dense as hell with some open grain throughout. Personally Wenge looks hideous to me when polished out so we'll see what we can come up with.

That looks like a nice chunk of wood.

No idea what the title of that video means, but the wood sure looks quite interesting!
I dropped my phone when I was typing 🤣

Yeah, like why is Shou Sugi banned?
They were too hot to handle...

Scorched wenge, peened pins, tapered tang, handle swells towards the but in thickness and height. The elements are there but the next one needs a few changes, (more blade belly, deeper clip, thinner tang taper, more forged ricasso texture). Thought I'd post this one up.

Ran across this painting from Giuseppe Arcimboldo called "Fire" from 1566 in an article Hatchet_Jack Hatchet_Jack sent me about firesteels.

I found it kind of fascinating because he must have been looking at the actual "nose" firesteel at the time of the painting and that that shape existed. I guess it's pretty common when painting something but I never really thought about it, but "still life" comes to mind. Anyways, a lot of the hammer strokes I was using were giving me very similar results in the picture. As I planned how to do a certain portion, it would naturally follow the shape in the painting. So I don't think he just made up a nose shaped firesteel, I think he found one. That's a lot of yackity smacking blah blah blah but I found it interesting and thought some of you might as well.

I'm no reproductionist by any means but I thought I'd give it a shot. Anyways, it was fun trying to forge something out of a painting from 1566.
