How is this possible? It leaves CONUS.
So? Conus means nothing as far as the USPS is concerned. The only care about the US and territories. I'm done on this topic as apparently there is a thread on it somewhere saying I am correct.

Why don't you guys hijack the thread for a topic that was covered very recently?
Because I wasn't aware it was covered anywhere recent because I don't read every single thread in every single forum. You could have been a little more couth in pointing it out.

If you use USPS, while it may technically leave the country (flying over Canada and bodies of water) it is still traveling via a US Government agency to a state or territory. It may leave CONUS depending on your definition of CONUS, but it does not leave the country. So going Florida to Alaska is the same as Miami to Orlando, just takes a little longer.

Thread topics can wind like a river. Hijacking a Feedback thread is nearly always poor form. However, this one pretty much ran it's course since both parties did not handle this transaction the best they could. International shipping was an aspect of the OP and then carried on past the buyer and seller. Oh well.

I hope it does work out amicably for the buyer and seller. Not going to hold my breath though.

Whether CONUS is taken to mean CONtinental US or CONtiguous US, it is a bogUS term in shipping items from one US address to another US address.

Same US Postal Service at both ends and no foreign customs forms to fill out or customs services to clear.

2 sum it up two dishonest people due to their admitted transactions per their own statements

...and it's a real shame. Especially because it affects me negatively (if I may be selfish for a moment).

I hope all who see this will understand it is perfectly safe to send knives to Switzerland! The land of Victorinox/Wenger/Klotzli...

Folders, flippers (even spring assisted), fixed blades, sword, axes and even firearms can be shipped here (though firearms of course takes a bit more paperwork!).

The only no no knives are balisongs, automatics and daggers (and even these are fine if they can be considered antique).

I've purchased/sold here, the green forum, the devilish place, Amazon, Ebay, New Graham, GPKnives Knifeworks and on and on with absolutely ZERO problems for about ten years.

It's annoying to fill out customs forms (you get used to it) and paying 50+ more bucks every time you ship something across the border (you get used to it), but there is minimal risk, especially with tracking.

In this case, it seems one or both parties misremembered what exactly happened here (to be diplomatic), but it's clear mistakes were made on both sides.

The only way i can conceive customs would ever seize that particular knife is if they were worried their was something strange going on...like it being hidden/disassembled for no reason. You could have shipped it in a Plexiglas box with lights saying "LOOK A KNIFE!!" and it would arrive fine.

....Sorry for the rant.

anyway...

Where is the tracking number?

As an AK resident, I think this is a shame as well.

^ I just felt compelled to respond to the above 2 member's. Personally, I would have absolutely no problems dealing with either of you. You are both very respectful, trustworthy member's with tenure here. Personally, I try to use a common sense approach, whether I'm dealing with member's living here in the U.S., or abroad. Certain countries, I would definitely avoid, Switzerland on the other hand, isn't on that list (obviously contingent on whom I'm dealing with).

As for getting this thread back on topic...

It's very apparent, that once Reggie was given the surprising news (that he was the target of a negative thread started in the GBU), that he wasn't very happy. Far from it! As for the OP- he also clearly isn't very happy with the way their ill conceived transaction worked out.

With that said, I still am curious & hope that a few of these questions can be answered (by either the OP, or Reggie):

1. Was the knife disassembled & shipped in more than one package, as Reggie claimed the OP requested?

2. What is the current status of the tracking number?

3. Has there been any communication between BOTH parties to this transaction, once this package/'s was shipped?

4. And finally, what now?

If this knife was indeed either lost, or seized by Swiss Custom's, is the OP pretty much SOL (considering he paid with PP Gift), or does anyone here feel that Reggie is in part, ethically responsible? I'm seriously interested in how other member's feel about his scenario. Just be civil- no flame wars please, just simple opinions. Thanks!

Reggie should have walked as soon as all these underhanded request were made. Payment made by gift or not, fault lies in both parties.

Hey okay i shouldnt have done this stuff with the customs and paypal friendly. But i swear i have never heard something about the knife again. I didnt get your email with the tracking number. And if it would be illegal here but it isnt! I would have got an letter or what the fuck ever from police or something like that.
So if you could please just try to mail me the tracking number again that would be cool because i didnt want to do anything bad to you i just didnt know for about 2 months whats happening with my knife. And freaked out.
You could even post the tracking number in here so i can surrly see it because my mail fucked up somehow.

Oh and gratulations on you nice type of answering me.

Greets Dominik

Oh and reggie i asked you zo disassembly the knife but you told me you dont do this because of fear of loosing parts so did you take it apart now?

i know dominik in person, he told me the whole story and yes, he didn't get the knife, or any information that it was confiscatet by the custom declaration or anything like that. so i think that either someone of them ficked something up, or that it got lost in the mail.
